Thanksgiving in the Wissahickon

Meeting at Valley Green Inn (Forbidden Drive and Valley Green Road)
Join Trail Ambassadors Ted Apple and Eric Dahlberg for a moderately paced exercise hike on scenic trails in the Wissahickon Park. It will start at the historic Valley Green Inn at 9 AM on Thanksgiving morning. The hike is planned for around 3 hours, ending back at the Inn by noon.
The expected length is around four miles. Well behaved dogs on leashes and teenagers are welcome. Sturdy shoes and hiking poles are recommended. Please bring water.
The exact route will be determined by the participants and the weather at the start of the hike. No matter which route taken there will be great views of the creek.

Audience: Ages 12+
Parking and Transit: There are three lots near the Inn. The northern parking lot on Forbidden Drive can be accessed by Wises Mill Road, and the southern by Valley Green Road. Overflow parking is in the Upper Valley Green Road Lot. The only nearby transit is the 27 bus stop at Henry Ave and Wigard Ave, a 15-minute hike from the Inn. See map for details.
Bathrooms: Valley Green Inn outdoor restrooms
Registration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks.
