Pitchfest: Transportation

October 29 @ 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Connecting the Penn community with leading public sector agencies to solve today's transportation challenges

Pitchfest: Transportation is an inaugural event hosted by the Transportation Initiative at Penn (TRIP), a hub for research, innovation, and real-world solutions in transportation. The event is designed to connect transportation-focused public agencies with students, faculty, and staff at the University of Pennsylvania to collaborate on applied research. Featured speakers include:

  • Gia Biagi, Secretary, Illinois Department of Transportation
  • Solomon Caviness IV, Commissioner, Atlanta Department of Transportation
  • Mark Compton, Chief Executive Officer, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission
  • Steve Dilts, Chief Operating Officer, New Jersey Turnpike Authority
  • Marie Therese Dominguez, Commissioner, New York State Department of Transportation
  • Rich Farr, Executive Director, rabbittransit
  • Rich Lazer, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, PhilaPort
  • Sabrina Sussman, Chief Program Officer, Choose How You Move Nashville

On October 29th, public agency staff are invited to give low-stakes, two-minute pitches on short-term, high-impact projects that could benefit from external expert support. After the event, the Pitchfest team works to “match” agencies with students, faculty and staff. Participating agencies include:

  • Amtrak
  • Delaware Department of Transportation
  • Delaware River Port Authority
  • Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
  • Denver Regional Transportation District
  • Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation
  • Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority
  • Choose How You Move Nashville
  • Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission
  • City of Philadelphia
  • Philadelphia International Airport
  • Philadelphia Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems
  • rabbittransit
  • Upper Merion Township
  • Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority

The pitches are a great fit for capstones, studios, student consulting clubs, and other student or faculty led projects. If you’re a student or faculty member looking for a real-world client, this is your chance. Please contact Pat Sabol at psabol@upenn.edu to learn more!
