Saturday Planting at Kitchen’s Lane Bridge

Parking: There is limited parking at the Kitchens Lane Parking lot, as well as more extensive street parking near the Jannette Street Trailhead. Both of these options are a short hike away from our meeting location, so please plan your arrival time accordingly. If you’re taking public transit, our location is accessible via the 9, 32, and 53 buses. See map for details.
Bathrooms: The Kitchen’s Lane composting bathroom will be available for use.
Would you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join us in the park for a native planting at the Kitchen’s Lane Bridge! Dog not guaranteed.
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said, this service day may include the following activities:
• Plantings: bending over, crouching/squatting, carrying up to 20 lbs, using long handled tools for digging
• Litter clean-up
We provide gloves, tools, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people, please reach out to us first.
Registration is required for all volunteer service days so that participants can be informed of emergency cancellations. Service days are cancelled in steady precipitation or other dangerous weather conditions. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.
