Plant Giveaway #1

September 19 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Our first Germantown Grows Together Plant Giveaway is on September 19th from 1-4pm at the Lonnie Young Recreation Center!

Our first Germantown Grows Together Plant Giveaway #1 is on September 19th from 1-4pm at Lonnie Young Recreation Center. It’ll be outside if it’s sunny, inside if it’s not.

We’ll be giving out free houseplants to Germantown residents. We’re using the honor system y’all, so let’s reserve these plants for folks from 19144 and 19138. There will be food and music (our Resident Services and Business Services Managers will have the aux!).

This giveaway looks at the ways land/plants can support everyday wellness and community care.

Ace Holistics will join us, and lead a hands-on herbal education experience focused on plant-based self-care and holistic practices. Participants will be able to taste, touch, smell, learn, and take home resources to keep exploring after the workshop.

Each 40-minute session will include:

  • Free organic/wild-crafted herbs and mineral support
  • Herbal education and practical self-care knowledge
  • Hands-on sensory engagement
  • Take-home herbal guides and resources

There will be 3 workshop rounds with 11 spots each, so registration is REQUIRED.

Edited to add: Please only select ONE timeslot, per person, for the afternoon. This ensures that more people get to experience each of the three activations.

House plant varieties will include plants that can grow in low light, are safe for pets and are generally low maintenance.

HUGE shoutout to Pomelo for helping us get this going!

This is part of our pre-planning engagement for Germantown Grows Together — creating welcoming, low-pressure ways for neighbors to gather, learn, share knowledge, and connect with the bigger conversation about plants, health, green space, and what community care can look like in Germantown.
