Vacant Land 215

July 8 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Philadelphia has a long and rich history of urban agriculture, gardening, and land stewardship. Today, we continue to steward land and form communities around these green spaces but often run into barriers that threaten their existence. Join the Public Interest Law Center (PILC), Neighborhood Gardens Trust (NGT), Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), and the Farm Service Agency’s Philadelphia Urban Service Center to learn about pathways for the preservation of gardens, green space, and urban farms in Philadelphia. This webinar will cover topics including: – The landscape of gardens and urban farms in Philadelphia – Landcare and garden maintenance resources – The role of land trusts for the preservation of gardens – Legal strategies and advocacy for preserving land – USDA and FSA financial safety net programs for growers We will leave lots if time for our Q&A at the end and look forward to hearing from land stewards across the city!
