Commemorating America’s 250th Anniversary
To commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Alice James Books presents a special evening of poetry that highlights often-overlooked voices from the founding era. Poets Andrés Cerpa, Shara McCallum, and Mihaela Moscaliuc will read from their own work alongside historical texts by lesser-known figures of the American Revolution and early republic. Following the readings, audience members are invited to create their own erasure poems using excerpts from the Declaration of Independence and George Washington’s Farewell Address.
