Jason Maybruck is one of the most prolific painters around today. In his work he ruminates on the throughlines of people, creatures, and elements that make up a life in the moment and how they are able to transcend time, how we today can connect with the past, how we can honor these vital threads of the eternal everyday. His considerations run deep, although he may work on the surface. His visual vocabulary also aims for layers and exciting depths of details, where nothing is without consideration. Maybruck is capable of keeping the viewer from getting too lost, while always joyfully engaged with each painting. Part of a more recent turn of focus, this series echoes the modern man’s ancestral ties to values and considerations common of Indigenous people of North America, in particular the Seneca Nation.
