Bikes and Bridges with Lisa Kleiman, Sheryl Rose, Doug Gibson, and Jean McWilliams

October 10 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Meeting at Regal UA Cinema Parking Lot (see map here)
There is plenty of free parking at our meeting location.
There may not be bathroom access available along our route.
Join us for a midday bike ride along two waterways that link trails in the Wissahickon Valley Park to the Schuylkill River Trail. We will focus on the many bridges that line the waterways as we ride over, under, and alongside them. A highlight of the ride will be exploring Schuylkill Banks, the new bridge and extension of the Schuylkill River Trail.
We will meet in Manayunk at the Regal Cinema Lot on Main Street and will head toward Wissahickon Valley Park, pausing to check out the view of Wissahickon Creek and the Wissahickon Viaduct Bridge. We will then connect to the Schuylkill River Trail and ride down to Boathouse Row and the Art Museum. We will pass several bridges over the Schuylkill along the way, stopping briefly to discuss the fascinating history of these bridges. Past the Art Museum, we will continue on the trail with views of Penn Campus and the newly completed Schuylkill Banks bridge. The route will be paved/boardwalked and mostly flat with a few small inclines. We will enjoy a short snack/water break at the Schuylkill Banks park before heading back. Restrooms available about 5 miles into the ride.
This event is for ages 18+. Helmets must be worn at all times; riders are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of their own bicycles.
Weather Date: October 14
Distance: 15 miles
