Speaking of History – Hamorton Village -250 Years of History
Speaker: Tina Bennett, Kennett Township Historical Commissioner
Located at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 52 Hamorton Village is one of the first employee housing developments in the nation. Beyond its current “drive-by” status lies a rich history, including a major skirmish of the Battle of Brandywine, a “Free Produce Store”, the residence of a distinguished doctor and conductor on the Underground Railroad, and a school open to students regardless of color. Explore this National Register village and the depth of the story contained behind its walls.
