The best holiday gifts are handmade! Work on gift sewing in an inspiring and supportive environment. Bring your own projects and materials.
All weekend long, the Spokes & Stitches studio is hosting a holiday gift sew-a-thon! For just $35 per session, you’ll have access to our fleet of sewing machines, sewing and cutting tools, and large cutting tables to lay out your project and cut fabric. Please bring your own project materials, and come with an idea of what you want to make as well as any patterns or templates you think you might need.
Professional tailor and studio owner Ruby Gertz will be present to provide guidance and support for those who need it.
Not sure what to make? These simple project ideas make great gifts and are easily adapted to fit every skill set:
-tote bags
-aprons
-cat toys
-ornaments
-stockings
-pillows and pillowcases
-headbands and scrunchies
-embroidered patches
If you need help with pattern recommendations or choosing a project within your skillset, just send an email to [email protected].
You can sign up for one, two, or all three sessions depending on the amount of time you think you’ll need to complete your project.
Our studio is conveniently located just a few blocks from Bargain Thrift and Gaffney Fabrics on Germantown Avenue, where you can pick up materials to use for your project (please note that Bargain Thrift is closed on Sundays).
There will be snacks provided, as well as some basic materials such as thread, glue, and small-medium fabric scraps for communal use.
