North zone horticulturist, Briar Maverick will lead the way in a hands-on pruning class!
Late dormancy is the time right before woody plants start pushing new growth in the spring, and it is the perfect time to prune summer-blooming shrubs like roses, hydrangeas, and spirea. Join Briar for a hands-on workshop where he’ll go over the basics of pruning and plant physiology, cover some common tools and techniques, and give everyone a chance to gain pruning experience.
This class is outdoors so please dress for the weather. Gloves and tools will be provided. If you have your own pruners, loppers, or handsaw that you would like to use please bring it along with you. Parking can be found in our visitor parking lot and participants will meet for the workshop at the Facilities Management Building.
