SUMMARY:Sunday Volunteer Service Day with David Bower
DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Thomas Mansion\nPlease park on Wissahickon Avenue or the surrounding neighborhood streets rather than the Thomas Mansion driveway.\nPlease note that there will be bathroom access during the service day.\nWe recommend parking on Barnes Street and walking over rather than next to the trailhead\, as car break-ins are known to occur along Hermit Lane.\nPlease note that there will not be bathroom access during this service day.\nWould you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join longtime Wissahickon steward David Bower and his dedicated team of Crew Leaders and Trail Ambassadors for a variety of stewardship projects!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Plantings: bending over\, crouching/squatting\, carrying up to 20 lbs\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over\, using long handled tools\n• Litter clean-up\n• Graffiti removal\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event.
