Anyone interested in the history of the Conestoga quickly becomes swept up in the incredible ways that it has been impacted by nearby habitation and the ways it has responded to those impacts. Through the many twists and turns of human influences\, we have responded over and over again with a deepening appreciation for the river’s magnificent beauty and intimate connection with nature. \nBen will take us on a journey through stories of the Conestoga that few have ever experienced. He will also share some astounding recent events of significant benefit to the environment and upcoming plans that could connect many more people with the Conestoga in the future. \n \nAbout Your Presenter\nBen Webber serves Lancaster Township as its municipal engineer. He grew up and resides in Manheim Township along the Conestoga River. As a civil engineer for four decades\, he has always been fascinated with water. A few years ago\, he asked the unfortunate question “Where does the name Bridgeport come from?” His thirst for local history has been unquenched ever since. \n \nAbout Nature Hour\nNature Hour is a lecture series presented by Lancaster Conservancy\, taking place on Thursdays throughout the winter.
