DESCRIPTION:Join Leeway x NextFab 2023 Artist in Residence Khaliah D. Pitts for a community hike and workshop on Saturday\, June 8  in the Wissahickon\n\n\nJoin Khaliah D. Pitts\, Leeway x NextFab 2023 Artist in Residence for a community workshop. Please bring journaling materials (pen + paper) and something to take pictures with. Light snacks will be provided. \nFor Black folks\, a recent history wrought with systemic violence against both the natural world and our land stewarding ancestors\, can make being present in nature difficult. And even so\, we is here\, present in those spaces. \nCome play\, explore and adventure in forest bathing\, journaling and self-portraiture. Khaliah will lead a beginner level hike along the Wissahickon where folks will engage in active listening\, internal experiencing and earthbased writing prompts. After the hike\, participants will stop at a comfortable location to explore and practice self-portraiture\, either solo or in pairs/groups\, using elements from the natural world. \nPlease note that this space is welcome to all folks and please be aware that this is a BIPOC sacred space and we will be centering the Black experience.
