Perfect for beginners or anyone looking to get back into clay\, this session focuses on foundational throwing techniques in a relaxed\, supportive environment. \nYour pieces will then be trimmed\, glazed\, and fired by the studio. \nWeek Two:Return to pick up your finished bowls and celebrate at a community ice cream social! Lee was born and raised in Schuylkill County\, Pennsylvania\, and found his home as a 2019 Graduate of the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. He has dedicated his time to education that focuses on community engagement in hopes to encourage the creative mind. \nLEE is the Studio Coordinator at Utility Works. Over the past year he has developed the studio into a community space for local artists. He continues his efforts of dedicated creative growth with the partnership of the Lansdowne community and the LEDC. \nAccessibility:\nPlease note that this workshop takes place in the Utility Works basement\, which is only accessible via stairs. In this single-session class\, young artists will learn the basics of handbuilding with clay using a simple and classic technique called pinch pots. \nPinch pots are an easy\, approachable way to explore clay. Kids will start by shaping a basic form and\, as their confidence grows\, can choose to turn it into something more imaginative\, like a bowl\, cup\, animal\, or small sculpture.  \nNo prior experience needed. The class is open to kids ages 6+. Parents for kids 6-13 are asked to stay; parents are welcome to play along\, though will not be given individual guidance.  \nThis class encourages creativity\, fine motor skills\, and hands-on exploration in a supportive and playful environment. \n \n \nMeet the Instructor:\nHunter Fussell is a multimedia artist and instructor for neurodivergent (and occasionally neurotypical) artists looking for ways to use their voice to create a body of work that is both functional and brings joy throughout its formation. They have studied many art forms and have a degree in Fine Art from Earlham College. As a teacher\, Hunter practices patience and active listening to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students.
