DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Upper Andorra Parking Lot\nParking: There will be limited parking onsite at the Upper Andorra Lot\, but there’s much more available along Northwestern Avenue. See map for details.\nBathrooms: There will be a restroom available for use at the Wissahickon Environmental Center.\nLove Your Park is an annual week-long celebration of the amazing parks we have here in Philadelphia! At this Saturday service day\, we’ll be working on a variety trail improvements around Andorra Meadow.\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping\, digging\, tamping\, and cutting; moving heavy objects\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over\, using long handled tools for cutting vines\n• Litter clean-up\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event. DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Upper Andorra Parking Lot\nGet to know the birds of Wissahickon Valley Park through this four-part guided bird walk series\, hosted by Troy Bynum of TB Wildlife Photography LLC in partnership with Friends of the Wissahickon. Participants will learn practical tips for identifying common species and gain insight into how different birds use the park’s diverse habitats throughout the seasons. Attend the full series to follow the changing landscape over time\, or join a single hike—everyone is welcome.\nDifficulty: Moderate (some inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces)\nParking: There’s plenty of parking at our meeting location in the Andorra Upper Lot. See this map for details.\nBathrooms: There is an outdoor composting restroom near the Wissahickon Environmental Center a short distance from the parking lot.\nTroy Bynum\, owner of TB Wildlife Photography LLC\, is not only an enthusiastic birder but also a passionate wildlife photographer from Philadelphia\, PA. Troy’s work focuses on capturing and showcasing the remarkable colors\, intricate patterns\, and rich textures that are abundant throughout the natural world. Troy’s work has been published by Discovery Warner Bros.\, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology\, Grid Magazine\, Northern Virginia Bird Alliance\, The Chestnut Hill Local\, and other regional publications. Troy is also an avid birder and experienced guide\, leading regional and international birding tours with Hillstar Nature\, Delmarva Birding Weekends\, DC Bird Alliance\, Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay\, and TB Wildlife Photography LLC to name a few organizations. Troy also volunteers as Field Trip Chair for Liberty Bird Alliance where he coordinates and often leads domestic and international birding trips for the members. Troy currently lives in Montgomery County with his wife and daughter and loves spending his free time with them birding\, hiking\, biking\, or playing bird-themed board games.\nNeed some binoculars for our hike? What do you notice—changing colors\, the scent of rain\, the feel of earth underfoot? Want to become more intentional with your observations?\nThis program encourages you to slow down and connect with nature\, awakening your senses and deepening your bond with Mother Earth. We’ll have fun noticing small\, delightful natural details. Whether you’re an experienced artist\, a beginner\, or simply love nature\, this program helps you attune to its beauty and complexity.\nWe will walk a short distance from the parking lot\, through the woods and up into Andorra Meadow where we’ll explore ways to strengthen observational skills and use creative writing to enhance visual art.
