DESCRIPTION:Come learn how to carve a linocut print and print some patches! You'll learn the tips and tricks of how to carve and print a linoleum block\n\n\nCome learn how to carve a linocut print and print some patches! You’ll learn the tips and tricks of how to carve and print a linoleum block print patch from start to finish with Philly printmaker Charlotte Holt. No experience necessary. We will go over how to transfer your drawing to the block\, how to carve your block\, and finally how to print your patches by hand and on the press. You will leave the workshop with a handful of patches  and the know-how to print on your own at home.  \n \nSliding Scale workshop – your ticket covers the price of the workshop and materials\, please support our studio at a tier you can afford! \nCharlotte Holt a prominently self employed printmaker and teaching artist\, living and working in West Philadelphia. She fell in love with the craft of printmaking in undergrad and has been printing ever since. She creates beautifully simple but intricate colorful hand printed prints and cards. Her work has always been a point of joy and connection for Holt. Holt teaches various printmaking workshops at organizations such as Main Line Art\, Tacony LABS\, and Peters Valley School of Craft.

DESCRIPTION:In this one day workshop\, students will learn the basics of sewing books by creating a series of simple sewn structures.\n\n\nIn this one day workshop\, students will learn the basics of sewing books by creating a series of simple sewn structures. Beginning with a single signature pamphlet\, students will learn the basics of folding and sewing. We will build on that simple structure\, making two signature pamphlets before exploring different types of covers. Finally\, we will fold a simple slip case to keep them all together. Join us any time between 10-4pm on our upcoming Volunteer Work Days; Saturday June 20th\, Saturday July 11th\, and Saturday July 18th. If you’re available please stop by on a day or two to lend your support! \nEach volunteer work day there will be opportunities to help out around the studio with your choice of packing zines / supplies\, organizing / packing our letterpress studio\, reclaiming screens\, and more! Please stop by for an hour or a few to hang out with everyone and greatly contribute to our move together with wonderful printmakers\, zinesters\, and community members! DESCRIPTION:Drop by The Soapbox to print your own poster using wood type from the studio collection! Participants will compose and print up to 6 words\n\n\nDrop by The Soapbox to print your own poster using wood type from the studio collection! Each participant will get to compose up to 6 words using moveable wood type\, and print 5 copies of their poster to take home. You’ll be guided through selecting and setting type\, and then locking up on the press to print. After setting type\, each participant can expect to have a press to themself for 5–10 minutes. This is a drop-in event\, so feel free to come by any time during this window and stay as long as you like (please arrive by 2:30 in order to have time to print your posters before the event ends at 3) Come print with us!  \nAdvance registration fee: $20 \nFolks are welcome to drop by and register on the spot; day-of fee is $25

Explore our studio and make keepsakes at our printmaking stations\, enjoy food and drinks\, browse art and goodies in our silent auction\, and win prizes! \nTickets will be $45 at the door. \nCan’t make it? You can still support The Soapbox by making a donation today! \n \nNote: We have sliding scale tickets with three ticket tiers\, artist\, community and general. If you’re unfamiliar with how sliding scale tickets work\, we’ve included guidance on where you may fall on the scale below. \nSupporter: I am comfortable and able to meet all of my basic needs. I may have some debt\, but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs. I own my home\, or I rent a property. I own/ lease a car\, or I can always afford public and private transport. I am employed\, or do not need to work to meet my needs. I have regular access to healthcare. I have access to financial savings. I have an expendable income. I afford vacations or to take time off.
