Whether you’re enchanted by mushroom ecology or interested in improving your field observation skills\, this is a relaxed and supportive program with space for all levels of experience. \nabout our partner \nThe Philadelphia Mycology Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2018 by Bethany Teigen and has since grown to include a diverse group of novice and experienced mycophiles. The club works with other environmental groups in and around Philadelphia to provide free and accessible mushroom guidance in an urban setting and to work towards our common goals of environmental justice. Grab gloves and join staff and fellow volunteers for seasonal garden projects. \nVolunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn more about the natural world\, give your time to a great cause\, and connect with like-minded people. \nCapacity is limited for this small-group event\, and pre-registration is required. If you sign-up\, please show-up. If you need to cancel\, please let us know so another volunteer can attend. All are welcome\, ages 12 and up. Children age 12-14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Join us as we learn how dead and dying trees still teem with life\, from tiny termites to fantastic flying squirrels and everything in between. SUMMARY:Tree Drawing for Beginners Workshop Series
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Henry Martin for this four-session class designed for anyone who enjoys the natural world and wants to explore it more deeply through drawing. This is a basic drawing class based on nature highlighting—but not limited to—trees. The first week will focus on paying attention to our perceptions through common artists’ exercises. In the second week\, we’ll analyze the structure of the plants we will draw. The remaining weeks will allow us to explore the fun and joy we can experience with drawing\, with opportunities for self-directed focus and subjects. \nSeries Dates: October 7\, 14\, 21\, & 28 \nrequired materials: \n\nPencils (HB\, 2B\, 4B) \n\n\nDrawing pad no smaller than 11” x 14” \n\n\nStadtler Mars eraser \n\n\nPencil sharpener \n\n\nWater bottle \n\n\nChair \n\nabout the instructor \nHenry Martin is a Philadelphia-based artist who teaches drawing and painting. He has called Philadelphia home since coming to study at the Pennsylvania Academy and University of Pennsylvania over 30 years ago.
