SUMMARY:Bundle Dyeing with Food Waste Dyes with Laura Hricko
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create beautiful\, one-of-a-kind patterns on textiles using a variety of kitchen scraps\, food waste dyes\, and spices.\n\n\nWith the guidance of Laura Hricko of Dye Club\, learn how to create beautiful\, one-of-a-kind patterns on textiles using a variety of kitchen scraps\, food waste dyes\, and spices. This workshop will lead participants through one of the most water-wise natural dye processes\, known as bundle dyeing. You will leave this workshop having created two naturally dyed fabric samples\, and a handout that will direct you towards continuing your investigation of these practices on your own. Get inspired by these humble materials as you create works of art on fabric that will lead you to rethink the creative potential of food waste before it hits the compost pile.\nWhen registering\, if it’s within your means\, please consider a donation when registering through Eventbrite to help us cover the expenses of this workshop. The cost to run this workshop works out to be $25 per person.\nThis workshop will have enough materials available for 16 people. If you register to attend\, please be mindful we are purchasing supplies for you. If you can no longer come\, even if it’s the day of\, please let us know so we can open your seat for someone else to be able to use the purchased materials. \nThis event is presented in partnership with Da Vinci Art Alliance’s Everyday Futures Fest. DVAA’s month-long art and sustainability festival includes all-ages programming throughout Philadelphia for the month of April. For a complete list of events\, please visit the www.EverydayFuturesFest.org website.

SUMMARY:Take Out Containers Turned Shrinky Dink Jewelery
DESCRIPTION:Using a recycled plastic that is often used for takeout containers we will decorate and build different types of jewelry and charms.\n\n\nUsing a recycled plastic that is often used for takeout containers we will decorate and build different types of jewelry and charms. Attendees will leave the workshop with knowledge on how to recreate this with take out containers in the future. By teaching the basic idea of how this plastic can be reused\, we are teaching the community how to apply this method with everyday useful solutions. This same plastic can be used to create things like reusable travel cutlery\, tools for future crafting\, as well as decorative applications like jewelry and tchotchkes. \nWhen registering\, if it’s within your means\, please consider a donation when registering through Eventbrite to help us cover the expenses of this workshop. The cost to run this workshop works out to be $15 per person.\nThis workshop will have enough materials available for 20 people. If you register to attend\, please be mindful we are purchasing supplies for you.
