SUMMARY:An Artist + Activist Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our inaugural Leeway Foundation Artist + Activist Screening at PhillyCAM on Friday\, October 17th from 6-8:30pm.\n\n\nSince 2021\, the Media Artist + Activist Residency has awarded media artists and social justice organizations $25\,000 grants to collaborate in documenting\, reframing\, and/or amplifying the issues and campaigns of the organization. \nJoin us at PhillyCAM on Friday\, October 17\, 2025 from 6-8:30pm for our inaugural Leeway Foundation Artist + Activist Screening\, with works by media artists Ami Glazer\, Black Rapp Madusa\, Gabrielle Patterson\, Kaia Chau + Sammy Wiener\, Kristen Harrison\, and Nadia Hironaka. Come early to mingle and enjoy light refreshments\, the screening starts at 6:30pm. \nAmi Glazer in collaboration with Youth Art & Self-Empowerment Project (YASP)\, Blak Rapp Madusa in collaboration with FREER Records (Die Jim Crow)\, Gabrielle Patterson in collaboration with The People’s Kitchen\, Kaia Chau + Sammy Wiener in collaboration with Asian Americans United (AAU)\, Kristen Harrison in collaboration with Philly Thrive\, Nadia Hironaka in collaboration with Philadelphia Folklore Project \nSupport for MAR generously provided by the Independence Public Media Foundation. \nVenue Accessibility \nAt PhillyCAM\, strives  to ensure that their physical space is accessible to all visitors\, members\, and media creators. Our facility\, located at 699 Ranstead Street\, Suite 1\, features the following: \n\nStep-Free Entrance: The entrance is wheelchair accessible\, ensuring that all visitors can enter the facility with ease.\nElevator Access: They provide elevator access to all floors\, making it easier for those with mobility challenges to navigate the building.\nWide Doorways And Hallways: Designed to accommodate mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers\, the spacious layout ensures ease of movement.\nAccessible Restrooms:They have ADA-compliant restrooms equipped with grab bars and ample space for maneuverability.\nSeating And Rest Areas: Comfortable seating is available throughout the facility for those who may need to take breaks during their visit.\nAssistive Listening Devices: For individuals with hearing impairments\, we offer assistive listening devices in our studios and event spaces.\nCaptioning And Transcription Services: They strive to provide closed captioning and transcription services for recorded content whenever possible.\n\nParking is available in the Independence Lot (right across the street from PhillyCAM) and your parking ticket can be stamped and validated for $5. \nAbout the Media Artist + Activist ResidencyThe Media Artist + Activist Residency (MAR) provides grants of $25\,000 to media artists working in close collaboration with social justice/cultural organizations to document\, reframe\, and/or amplify the issues and campaigns addressed by the organization.
