SUMMARY:The Love Machine [reprise] by jasmine lynea
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Nextfab x Leeway AiR culminating event\, The Love Machine  by jasmine lynea\n\n\nThe Love Machine  is a project by jasmine lynea (ATR ’24\, ACG ’20) the selected 2024 Leeway x NextFab Art + Technology Artist-in-Residence. \nInspired by jasmine lynea’s sci-fi fantasy short film\, The Love Machine\, where a teenage scientist and influencer builds a time machine in his basement to help break intergenerational trauma. The Love Machine  acts as a tangible sequel to the film. The machine is no longer hidden in the basement; it’s the world we call home. It radiates Black memory\, joy\, love\, and wonder\, offering a space for reflection and imagination. \nThe Love Machine  features a large-scale art installation\, diorama\, and collage art. \nCome celebrate and view jasmine’s work\, on display at NextFab from October 9\, 2025 through December 11\, 2025. Viewing hours are Sunday – Thursday\, 10 AM-8 PM. This exhibition is free and open to the public. \n \nVENUE ACCESSIBILITY\nThe exhibition will take place at NextFab (North Philadelphia). The entrance is ADA compliant and there are no steps to enter the building – only a paved\, concrete ramp to the front door. There are gender neutral restrooms close to the exhibition space as well as a free on-site parking lot\, available for members and visitors. Masks are encouraged in the space\, but not required. \n \nABOUT THE LEEWAY x NEXTFAB ARTIST RESIDENCY\nEstablished in 2018\, the Art + Technology Residency (ATR) is an opportunity for a Leeway grantee to utilize the facilities and equipment at NextFab\, a network of collaborative makerspaces for professional makers. The artist-in-residence receives a $2\,500 stipend from Leeway and access to NextFab’s space to create their work. Learn more about NextFab and Leeway.

SUMMARY:Transforming our Realities | A Collage Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Leeway x NextFab Art and Technology Artist-in-Residence\, jasmine lynea for a collage workshop featuring artist Yannick Lowery\n\n\nIn this workshop\, participants are encouraged to reimagine and transform their realities with love at the core. What does love look like in your community- at home\, on the street\, in church\, at the corner store? \nIn this Collage Workshop featuring artist Yannick Lowery\, we will encourage participants to explore love as a revolutionary force through visual storytelling. Participants will create a collage using personal images\, magazine clippings\, and drawings that represent love\, healing\, and joy that can help reimagine the communities they call home. \nAs NextFab x Leeway Artist-in-Residence\, jasmine is creating an immersive installation for public viewing at parks\, community festivals\, schools\, and other social settings that will encourage the community to come together. \nThe immersive installation\, The Love Machine II\, will be a life-sized booth containing three VHS monitors displaying collage videos on loop\, of images of black love\, care\, collectivity\, and joy. The booth will be designed to accommodate one person at a time\, providing a safe and intimate experience for reflection and healing. Equipped in the booth are multimedia capabilities\, including audio\, visual\, and sensory elements\, to recreate the immersive experience portrayed in their short film\, The Love Machine. \nParticipants will have the option to include their transformed realities collages in the art piece opening in the fall. \n \nVenue Accessibility\nNextFab is ADA accessible. There are no steps to enter the building – only a paved\, concrete ramp to the front door. Free on-site parking is available for members and visitors. There are gender neutral restrooms close to the workshop space. Tables and chairs will be available for the duration of the workshop.
