DESCRIPTION:Take a break from your desk and reconnect with the natural world—right in the middle of your workday. Join us for Nature at Noon\, a new series of accessible lunchtime nature outings in and around Center City Philadelphia. \nNature at Noon is designed to bring joy\, inclusion and curiosity to your lunch hour. These one-hour outdoor gatherings center accessibility\, biodiversity\, safety and connection — with programming that bridges science\, art and community. Inspired by the work of In Color Birding Club\, Feminist Bird Club\, Philly Queer Birders\, PCAS Adaptive Birders and Disability Pride PA’s Outdoors for Everyone series\, Nature at Noon is for everyone — no experience needed\, just curiosity and a desire to step outside. \nEveryone is welcome — come as you are! We invite people of all backgrounds and abilities to join us\, including disabled and neurodivergent nature-lovers and their support people. We will move at a pace that honors the needs of the group and invite you to share any access needs in advance so we can make your experience as enjoyable as possible. \nFor this one-hour outing\, we will meet at noon out front of LLoyd Hall public bathrooms located at 1 Boathouse Row\, or you can plug this location into your map (39.968953\, -75.184904). \nAccess Features: \nSurface/Terrain: The park surface is composed of paved path\, metal boardwalk\, loose brick sections and grassy areas.\nPublic Bathrooms and water fountains located at Lloyd Hall. The area features some tree canopy shade and offers ample benches.\nParking: Free two-hour parking is available along Water Works Drive. 5 Disability Parking spots are available.\nPublic Transportation: Bus Routes 38 (0.3 miles from Art Museum to Lloyd Hall)\nWeather: If it is actively raining\, we will postpone or cancel the event. DESCRIPTION:Learn about the history and hidden gems of East Fairmount Park on this guided bike tour.\n\nDATE\nSunday\, May 18 \n\n\n\nTIME\n9:30 am – 12:30 pm \n\n\n\nLOCATION\nLloyd Hall \n1 Boathouse Row\nPhiladelphia PA 19130 \n\n\n\nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy and experienced bike tour guide Graham Robb on an eight-mile\, all-levels bike ride of East Fairmount Park on Sunday\, May 18 from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM. \nThe guided bike ride will highlight the history\, hidden gems\, and stories of interesting places in East Fairmount Park. Stops include the birthplace of the park at Lemon Hill Mansion\, Sedgeley Porter’s House — a little-known or seen house that is the first Gothic Revival building in the US\, Hatfield House\, John Coltrane’s House\, the Discovery Center\, Smith Playhouse\, as well as many of the park’s beautiful colonial-era mansions. Graham is a great storyteller who will share many perspectives on our park’s past\, present\, and future. \n\nINSTRUCTOR BIO: Graham Robb is a “retired” lawyer who enjoys biking\, hiking\, gardening and learning anything new.  When he is not officiating high school sports he volunteers much of his time with various organizations including Habitat for Humanity for whom he leads teams of volunteers on builds around the world.  A lifelong resident of Philadelphia\, Graham is something of a history and genealogy buff – having traced his Philadelphia ancestors back to the 1680s – and loves sharing past and current stories about his favorite city. \nTICKET PRICE: FREE** in honor of Love Your Park Week. Donations appreciated. \n**We are proud to be able to offer these events for free. However\, there is limited capacity for all of our bike tours. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows can take away tickets from others. We ask that you be mindful of this and please only register if you plan to attend. \n\nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO: \n\nThe bike ride is roughly eight miles (moderate exertion). Most of the ride is flat; however\, there will be some hilly sections.\nThis event is BYOB….as in\, bring your own bike (and helmet!). No bike? No problem! We’re meeting right next to Wheel Fun Bike Rentals (open\, weather-permitting).\nEveryone must wear a helmet at all times. Riders who arrive without a helmet will not be permitted to join the tour.\nAppropriate for adults and families with children ages 14 and up. Minors must be registered and accompanied by an adult.\nPlease dress according to weather conditions.\nPlease bring your own water and snack (drinking water is not available in the park).\nThere are bathrooms available at the start/end of the tour but not in the middle so please plan accordingly.\nThe bike ride visits the places listed above but does not go inside.\nImportant pre-event information and any event updates are sent out via email. Please make sure the email address entered is correct and that you check it before coming out to the event.\nSpace is limited for this tour and registration is required. If you cannot attend an event\, please show courtesy to fellow parkgoers and try to cancel your registration with advance notice so that someone else can participate. Repeat no-shows may not be able to register for future free events. \n\nPARKING/GETTING THERE: There is plenty of free parking in the Lloyd Hall lot at Waterworks Drive. Additional limited parking can be found in the Lemon Hill area / Sedgley Drive\, and in the small lot at the far end of Boathouse Row. As always\, do not leave valuables in your car. If traveling by public transit\, the nearest station is at Art Museum Drive–a quarter-mile walk from the start.
