DESCRIPTION:Join the team behind "Vámonos Pa'l Monte" for a conversation with partners Taller Puertorriqueño and Norris Square Neighborhood Project.\n\n\nOn Thursday\, September 17\, join us for VAMOS A HACER: Communal Co-Creation Journey — Vámonos Pa’l Monte Project Partners in Conversation with the project team\, the cohort of local artists collaborating on this Mural Arts project\, and representatives from project partners Taller Puertorriqueño and Norris Square Neighborhood Project. \nThe Vámonos Pa’l Monte team and project partners will share the behind-the-scenes collaborative process of this public art and engagement project\, culminating in October with a four-mile procession through Philadelphia. Together\, they have spent two years in deep community engagement with residents\, artists\, and culture workers of Norris Square\, a neighborhood long at the heart of Philadelphia’s Puerto Rican population. Hear how this shared journey has shaped and informed lead artist Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz’s creative process. \nOn-site art activations led by teaching artists and partners will follow the conversation. Presented by the Philadelphia Latino Arts and Film Festival and Mural Arts Philadelphia \nCome and experience AR/VR installations in two community gardens celebrating African heritage and the West African diaspora in Puerto Rican culture. Project directors Iris Brown of Grupo Motivos / Norris Square Neighborhood Project and Anula Shetty and Michael Kuetemeyer of Termite TV Collective have been facilitating workshops with long-term residents to share the memories and stories of this Latine neighborhood in Norris Square.
