DESCRIPTION:Philly’s signature mix of sports pride\, deep cultural roots\, and the unmistakable South Philly edge.\n\n\n\nExplore a neighborhood where generations of immigrants have shaped one of Philadelphia’s most culturally diverse communities\, and discover how historic FDR Park and the surrounding streets reflect a layered story of recreation\, resilience\, and traditions that continue to evolve today. From the Olmsted Brothers–designed landscapes of FDR Park to the restaurants\, markets\, and places of worship that define Lower Moyamensing\, this tour reveals how each generation has added its own chapter to the neighborhood’s enduring story. \n \nTOUR INFO\nCost: FREE\, registration required. \nMeeting Point: Independence Visitor Center (599 Market St\, Philadelphia\, PA 19106). \nGUESTS ARE NOT ABLE TO MEET THE TOUR GROUP WITHIN THE NEIGHBORHOOD\, AND MUST MEET AT THE VISITOR CENTER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR. \nPlease arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time. Check-in at the Visitor Center Information Desk when you arrive. \nThe tour within the neighborhood is approximately 90 minutes with additional time allotted for travel. Your tour will be led by a tour guide and a local tour host from the neighborhood. \nGroup Size: up to 35. Space is limited\, please only reserve a space if you know you are able to attend. Space may be available for walk-up guests on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nIf you are unable to attend your reserved tour\, please cancel your Eventbrite reservation to allow others to enjoy the Jawnt. \nTransportation to and from the neighborhood is provided via the Neighborhood Jawnts Bus. \nFollow Philadelphia250 on EventBrite to be notified as new Neighborhood Jawnts are added weekly through October 2026!
