SUMMARY:Myths\, Legends\, Hermits\, Bridges of the Wissahickon PLUS Kelpius' Music Live
DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Historic RittenhouseTown (208 Lincoln Dr\, Philadelphia)\nThis will be the 7th in a series of guided walks exploring some of the mysticism\, mythology\, religion\, legends\, history\, art\, music\, and architecture found within the Wissahickon. We will have ample time to examine these from the three different perspectives of history\, theology\, and psychology. Along the way\, we will visit Lover’s Leap\, the Henry Avenue Bridge\, the Hermitage\, and Kelpius’ Cave. At each of these sites\, we will consider topics ranging from hidden subway stations\, apocalyptic movements\, and the Wissahickon’s most famous hermit.\nWe will hear a live encore performance of the rich sounds and words of some of the most loved hymns that Kelpius composed\, performed at his cave. Not to be missed!\nCheck out a preview of our hike on Komoot below!  \nDistance: 3 miles\nAudience: Ages 12+\nParking and Transit: If you’re driving\, there is parking nearby our meeting area as well as up by the bike cafe\, but in the event the lots fill up\, you can find parking along the nearby neighborhood streets or at Blue Bell Park rather than parking along Rittenhouse Lane. Note that the lot along Lincoln Drive is the site of regular car break-ins and is not recommended. If taking transit\, our location is serviced by Bus 65 (Walnut Lane and Wissahickon Ave) and Chestnut Hill West Regional Rail (Chelten). See map for details.\nRestrooms: There should be porta potties available for use at Blue Bell Park.\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. Unless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain\, extreme heat\, muddy conditions\, or icy conditions. Service animals are always welcome. We’ll explore ways to strengthen observational skills and use creative writing to enhance visual art. Parking in the paved lot along Lincoln Drive is not recommended\, as it’s known to get some car break-ins.
