DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Hermitage Mansion\nWe recommend parking on Barnes Street and walking over\, as Hermit Lane has been known to experience car break-ins.\nPlease note that there will not be restroom access during the service day.\nJoin the Wild Women of the Wissahickon on this twilight adventure to the Hermit’s Cave and learn the lore and legend of “America’s first doomsday cult”. As Halloween approaches\, the veil thins as spirits cross over to roam abroad in the land. Will the Wizard Kelpius return to continue his vigil preparing for the End of Days?\nCostumes\, which will serve as disguises to confuse any nefarious ghouls\, are highly suggested. We gather on the Hermitage porch to walk over uneven terrain in the gloaming. Bring a flashlight and maybe a camera to catch any apparitions on film! Service animals are always welcome\, but no pets please.\nThis hike is appropriate for ages 12+.\nDistance: 1 mile\nLevel: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces)\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.\nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. DESCRIPTION:Meeting at the Hermitage Mansion\nJoin the Wild Women of the Wissahickon on this Twilight adventure to “The Lost Cave” of America’s first doomsday cult\, in the Hermit’s Glen. As Halloween approaches\, the veil thins\, and spirits cut loose and roam through the woods. Is it the End of The World? Will the Wizard Kelpius return to his cave to fulfill his prophecy?\nCostumes\, which will serve as disguises to confuse the nefarious ghouls\, are highly suggested. Come prepared to walk over uneven terrain in the failing light of the gloaming. Bring a camera to see if you can catch the likenesses of any apparitions on film!\nThis hike is appropriate for ages 18 and up.\nIf you want to read up a bit on your history before the hike\, check out Kris’s article on Kelpius and his cave here!\nDistance: 1 mile\nLevel: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces)\nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations.\nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks.
