DESCRIPTION:Meeting in Harper’s Meadow (9850 Germantown Avenue)\nParking: There’s parking available in the Northwestern Avenue Parking Area and on nearby neighborhood streets.\nBathrooms: There are porta potties available for use on Northwestern Ave & Forbidden Drive a short walk away from our worksite.\nWould you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join longtime Wissahickon steward David Bower and his dedicated team of Crew Leaders and Trail Ambassadors for a variety of stewardship tasks!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping\, digging\, tamping\, and cutting; moving heavy objects\n• Planting site maintenance: using long handled tools for cutting\, scraping\, and digging\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over\, using long handled tools for cutting vines\n• Litter clean-up\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people\, please reach out to us first. Registration is required for all volunteer service days so that participants can be informed of emergency cancellations. We’ll have fun as we take time to notice the small natural details that spark delight.\nWhether you’re an experienced artist or a beginner or someone who’s always enjoyed spending time in nature\, this program will help you become more attuned to the beauty and complexity of the natural world.\nWe will explore how to strengthen your observational skills\, creative writing techniques to complement your visual art. For those who are interested\, we’ll offer info on how to build a personalized nature journal to capture your experiences and reflections.
