This 48-acre forest and meadow habitat was created as part of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s Meadow Creation Initiative (2001-2013). The meadow was seeded with native warm-season grasses and wildflowers\, while nesting boxes for bluebirds and kestrels were installed to further enhance the wildlife habitat. \nAttendees will meet at Houston Playground.

SUMMARY:Mushroom Foray at Fort Washington State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join the Philadelphia Mycology Club for  free public mushroom hunt!\n\n\n**This event is free and open to everyone. The PMC is funded entirely through donations. If you are able\, please consider choosing the Donation Ticket option at checkout to give an amount of your choice** \nMeet at the Hawk Observation Deck parking lot at 1pm. After a brief introduction we will break apart to look for mushrooms. If it is your first time and/or you feel like you need guidance you will be able to follow more experienced members. At 3pm we will all meet back at the starting point to identify and talk about what we found and have a little picnic. Feel free to bring a snack or drink too\, we will provide light refreshments for everyone.  \nPlease sign up for carpooling if you need a ride to the event or are willing/able to take some fellow foragers to and from the foray.  \nChildren are welcome to attend. Dogs are also welcome\, but we ask you to keep them on leash at all times. \nPlease dress appropriately for outdoor activities. Close-toed shoes and long pants are recommended due to poison ivy and ticks. \nBy registering for this event you grant the Philadelphia Mycology Club to use photographs and/or video of you taken at the event in publications\, online\, and in other communications related to  the Philadelphia Mycology Club.
