DESCRIPTION:Due to the forecasted weather Celebrate Trails Day has been rescheduled to Sunday\, April 26th 10-2pm. This community event is the perfect time to get outside on Cobbs Creek Trail. Come join neighbors and local organizations for a day of free activities as we #CelebrateTrails together! \nCobbs Creek Celebrate Trails Day will celebrate its sixth year running on Sunday\, April 26th 2026 from 10am-2pm at the playground/park area at Thomas Ave & Cobbs Creek Parkway just north of Whitby Ave.\nBrought to you by Clean Air Council and the Cobbs Creek Watershed Coalition\, this free event will kick off at 9:30am with a WeWalk to explore the paved Cobbs Creek Trail. Beginning at 10:00am attendees can interact with exhibitors offering family friendly games\, resources\, information\, education\, and activities for residents to connect with including sharing ideas for the upcoming Little Nature Playgrounds on Cobbs Creek Trail. The event will conclude with a raffle and a chance to win prizes. \nThe day’s schedule is filled with free activities including horseback riding\, fishing\, and more. Help spread the word to friends\, family\, and neighbors to come out and enjoy Cobbs Creek Park together. Stay updated by following the Cobbs Creek Watershed Coalition Facebook and Instagram pages.

DESCRIPTION:Come volunteer with us for a community workday at the Johnny Sample Recreation Center in Cobbs Creek Park!\n\nDate\nTuesday\, April 14 \n\n\n\nTime\n9:00 am – 12:00 pm \n\n\n\nLocation\nCobbs Creek Park \n\n\n\nJoin Fairmount Park Conservancy for a Community Volunteer Workday! \nJoin us on Tuesday\, April 14th\, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM as we help refresh the gardens at Cobbs Creek Recreation Center with perennial cutbacks\, weeding\, and mulching. \nWe’ll provide all necessary tools\, supplies\, and materials for the workday\, including gloves. \nWe look forward to working with you! \n\nEVENT TIMELINE: \n9:00 AM – Volunteer check-in\n9:10 AM – Project overview & tool safety \n9:20 AM – Begin workday \n11:45 AM – Wrap-up workday\n12:00 PM – Big thank you & group photo! \n\nMEETING LOCATION: Walking entrance\, 280 Cobbs Creek Pkwy\, Philadelphia\, PA 19139 \n\nKNOW BEFORE YOU GO:\n\n\nIn general\, please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.\n\n\nSturdy\, closed-toe shoes like boots or sneakers are required (no ballet flats\, flip-flops\, or sandals).\n\n\nWe strongly recommend wearing long pants that cover your ankles and long sleeves to protect your arms.\n\n\nPlease bring a reusable water bottle. We will provide jugs for refilling.\n\n\nVolunteers are also required to wear gloves while working. Gloves will be provided\, but you are also welcome to bring your own.\n\n\nYou may also want to consider wearing a hat or sunglasses.\n\nThere is street parking available.\n\n\n\n\nINCLEMENT WEATHER PROTOCOL:\nThis workday will take place in light rain. DESCRIPTION:Please join the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University for the next professional networking event in the rECOnnect series: the Summer Nature Challenge. \nGather together with like-minded naturalists\, scientists\, conservationists and anyone who wants to learn more about our local ecology. We will swap nature stories and identify plants\, birds\, mammals\, insects and other organisms using iNaturalist. No experience necessary! Experts from the Academy and other scientific organizations will be on site to demonstrate what to look for and how to identify what we see. \nThe Summer Nature Challenge will be held at Cobbs Creek Park on August 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet and network with other partners\, peers and professionals from all over the Philly area. The goal of rECOnnect is to inform and build a local movement of environmentally engaged communities for a healthy\, sustainable and equitable planet.
