SUMMARY:Craft Coven Yard Sale
DESCRIPTION:This is how crafty people do a yard sale\n\n\nCome out to shop\, support and keep valuable items out of landfills! The Craft Coven is hosting it’s very first Crafty Yard Sale. We will have tables filled to the brim with fabrics\, yarns\, stamps\, tools and books etc. priced to sell and ready for your next big project. All coven sales will go towards offering low cost events available to the public. Our goal of this event is to raise enough funds to purchase the aprons and easels we need to start offering painting classes at the pier. If we raise $2\,000 we’ll have enough to purchase all the supplies to host a group of 20 people for a free painting workshop\, then continue to have the easels and aprons to host more in the future. \nWe have invited other crafters to bring out their own items for sale as well. Expect to see a wide variety of things for sale throughout the event\, and check out the Cherry Street Pier artists in their residency studios as well. For more info about the artists at the space take a look at the List of Artists in Residence. \nCherry Street Pier has taken their food offerings up quite a few steps this Summer! There now are two permanent food vendors\, one inside the pier and one by the waterfront. We also have a Latin American style ice cream spot\, and as always a full bar. For more info on food and drinks check out their website info. \nIn order to help reach our goal we will have a raffle running alongside the event that will continue to a virtual raffle for the following 7 days. There will be one raffle winner (chosen through our IG stories) who will win all of the prize items! Raffle winner will be pulled on Sunday\, July 21st at 4pm. Prize items will be announced at the Yard Sale and posted online through the Coven IG account @CassiesCraftCoven \nIf you would like to vend please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/qpNq6sKXgn2rbLsD8 (Vendor Applications are Closed for our July Sale. If you fill out this form now you will be contacted when we run another Crafty Yard Sale) \nIf interested in dropping items off for donation please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/3G7tj98Ug36S5RyV7

SUMMARY:Phantastic Phibers Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Opening reception for exhibition running July 5-28. Cherry Street Pier Resident Bonnie MacAllister (Studio 16) juried an open call to find fellow Philly artists working in non-traditional fibers. Phantastic Phibers creates an atmosphere of industrial\, fiber optic\, hyperbolic\, puppetry\, soft sculpture\, no waste weaving\, and non traditional textiles. Two and three dimensional work will fill the gallery space and second floor. \nThe exhibition showcases collaborative pieces from Phillip Chang and Paul Vo\, May Maani and Chris Lau\, Rachel Udell and Jeremy Newman\, Bonnie MacAllister and Ndokaa Bundu\, and MacAllister and Jamie Campbell as well as work from Joanna Fulginiti\, Suki Valentine\, Aja Beech\, Bennett Cafarelli\, Kristina Behler\, Ericha Fletcher\, Caroline Maw-Deis\, Jenna McGraw\, Yvette Malloy-Jiggetts\, Ash Garner-THECOLORG\, Jennifer Ahearn\, and Jenny Lee Maas.

SUMMARY:Make Your Own Watercolors
DESCRIPTION:Using soil and natural materials we will make our own watercolor paints!\n\n\nI was shocked when I learned that acrylic and oil paints are made out of plastics. I knew there had to be a way to create paints that were conducive to my health and belief systems. I mean\, people did it before there were plastics\, right? So ten years ago\, I embarked on a journey to learn everything I could about pigments and dyes. And\, I want to share it with you. \nJoin me for the Make Your Own Watercolors workshop\, where we will learn how to make every color in the rainbow using soil\, insect based\, and plant pigments. I will offer up my personal watercolor recipe\, and teach you about all the tools and tricks I have collected along my journey. You will make your own watercolors\, name them\, and share them with classmates to build a full set of 6 or more colors. \nEveryone will leave with a small set of watercolors in an upcycled tin container. We’ll even create a one of a kind color guide for understanding your colors. \nYour Make Your Own Watercolors Workshop Ticket Includes:-2.5 hours of dedicated creative time with no interruptions-Invitation to a Facebook Group where we will share meditations\, inspiration\, artwork and feedback-Your own unique color guide for understanding the colors in your set-A graphic printout with my own personal recipe for watercolors-A new paintbrush– A small upcycled tin with your own set of bespoke watercolors made with love \nAbout your Instructor Heidi Lowell: \nI am a multi-disciplinary artist based in Austin\, Texas. I use site specific soils and other plant materials from sites around Texas and the country to produce my own paint. Through my work\, I nudge the viewer into a more intimate relationship with place. I believe making and teaching art is a spiritual practice. \nI also come with 20 years of experience in education\, starting out as a public school art teacher for about a decade. I now regularly teach at retreats\, museums\, and festivals around the United States. \nAbout the Location:This event is held at The Craft Coven’s space in Cherry Street Pier. We are located in studio 14 on the second floor. Unfortunately there are no elevators to the second floor. You will need to go up a very large flight of steps to get to the second floor. The space is heated/cooled inside the pier and there are bathrooms located on site (on the first floor). There are often installations and events around the pier\, and the larger space is open from 12-8pm everyday.
