DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, we will make a lake pigment from plants found in Riverfront North's parks.\n\n\nLaking is a process of extracting color from plants and turning it into a insoluble powder that can be mixed to make paint. We will use the pigment to make watercolor and try painting with plants! \nYou can register for this class in person starting August 19th. Online registration opens September 2nd.  \nThere will be a second workshop at Borski Park on September 12th from 10:00am-12:30pm(you can attend both) \nIn the second workshop\, we will use the pigment created in the first workshop to make printing ink. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly open sew. You do not need previous experience to join us.\n\n\nAGES 13 AND UP. \nWe only have 8 sewing machines. If you have your own machine we strongly recommend bringing it with you. If you have questions about a particular project or just need some assistance getting started\, our 2 sewing instuctors Maryann and Tiffany can assist with most projects \nPlease be aware that if you do not sign up\, we may not have a machine for you to use. \nThis open studio takes place from 4-8. You do not need previous experience to join us\, however please be aware this is a first come first served.\n\n\nAGES 13 AND UP. \nWe only have 8 sewing machines. If you have your own machine we strongly recommend bringing it with you. If you have questions about a particular project or just need some assistance getting started\, our 2 sewing instuctors Maryann and Tiffany can assist with most projects. \nThis open studio takes place from 4-8. You can come in any time between 4 and 7 and stay until 8pm. \nTacony LAB Class Enrollment and Attendance Policy \nAttendance Policy: We understand that traffic and other delays happen\, however we request you to be on time to our events. We have a 15 minute grace period. If we are not notified and you are more than 15 minutes late\, you may not be permitted to join the class. Our classes are only 2 hours long and it is difficult to catch up students when they are late. \nThe Tacony LAB’s classes are unique in Philadelphia: we do not charge tuition or any sort of fees for any of our classes. \nOur classes are popular and often have wait-lists. If you enroll in a class\, please commit to attending it! \nHow to enroll in a Tacony LAB class: \n• You may enroll IN PERSON at the LAB beginning 3 weeks before a class first meets. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly open sew. You do not need previous experience to join us\, however please be aware this is a first come first served\n\n\nWe only have 8 sewing machines. If you have your own machine we strongly recommend bringing it with you.  If you have questions about a particular project or just need some assistance getting started\, our 2 sewing instuctors Maryann and Tiffany can assist with most projects.  \nThis open studio takes place from 4-8. You can come in any time between 4 and 7 and stay until 8pm. \nTacony LAB Class Enrollment and Attendance Policy \nAttendance Policy: We understand that traffic and other delays happen\, however we request you to be on time to our events. We have a 15 minute grace period. If we are not notified and you are more than 15 minutes late\, you may not be permitted to join the class. Our classes are only 2 hours long and it is difficult to catch up students when they are late. \nThe Tacony LAB’s classes are unique in Philadelphia: we do not charge tuition or any sort of fees for any of our classes. \nOur classes are popular and often have wait-lists. If you enroll in a class\, please commit to attending it! \nHow to enroll in a Tacony LAB class: \n• You may enroll IN PERSON at the LAB beginning 3 weeks before a class first meets. Please check the “About” section of the LAB’s Facebook page for open hours or call the LAB at 267-686-7420 to hear the hours. \n• You may enroll online using Eventbrite beginning one week before a class first meets (provided there are still spaces) by visiting our Eventbrite page: www.eventbrite.com/o/the-tacony-lab-community-arts-center-1… \n• You may come to the first class and enroll at that time\, providing space is available. You do not need to have taken classes at the LAB to partcipate.Mural Arts Philadelphia Tacony LAB Community Art Center is inviting artists from Northeast Philadelphia artists to exhibit their artwork at a Community Art Show. The exhibit will take place from April 10th to April 24th 2026. There is no charge to participate and all art media are welcome to apply. Please fill out the submission form below if you would like to be a part of this exhibit. \nhttps://forms.gle/dCodZ98iMezC761g6 \nRules for Submission: \n\nSubmit 1-2 pieces of artwork\, (examples of acceptable work: illustrations\, paintings\, prints\, and mixed media on paper\, canvas\, wall hanging or 3 dimensional piece). Due to limited space\, we are asking that artists only submit up to 2-3 pieces. The total of artists will determine how many pieces will be accepted into the show.\nPlease email photos of your work at the time of submitting the application to info@taconylab.org\nArtists must set price and payment method if listing the artwork for sale. Sales must be completed between artist and buyer.\nArt will remain hanging for the entirety of the show\nA social media handle or QR can be displayed with your information if desired. Please submit that information with this application\nAll artwork must be dropped off to the Tacony LAB Community Art Center by no later than April 6th during open studio hours (12pm-8pm)\nThe art show opening will be in person at the LAB on Friday\, April 10th from 6pm – 9 pm with the last day to view the show on Thursday April 30th.\nArtwork must be picked up during open studio hours before Tuesday\, May 5th. If your work is left after this date\, we will do our best to keep it safe\, but cannot be held responsible for loss or damage as we are limited in space for artwork storage.\n\n— \nWhat is the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center? We are a community art center funded by the City of Philadelphia located in the Northeast section of Philadelphia. DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Tacony LAB to decorate a flower pot which can then be taken to the  Taocny CDC Flower arranging event\n\n\nJoin the creative folks at the Tacony LAB to decorate a shallow style flower pot for Spring!
