SUMMARY:5th Annual Mushroom Jerky-Off and Halloween Fungi Social
DESCRIPTION:Join the PMC for our fall social!\n\n\nFor the 5th year in a row we’ll be getting together to socialize\, eat\, carve pumpkins\, and see who makes the best maitake (or other mushroom) jerky. Everyone is invited! This year we are also doing a costume contest\, mushroom themed costumes are highly encouraged. Winner will receive a PMC merch bundle and bragging rights.    \n** IF YOU ARE BRINGING A DISH to share please make a list of all the ingredients used\, to be displayed on the table. We will provide index cards if you need them. If your dish contains wild mushrooms that you foraged\, please make sure that you had them properly identified\, and preferably retain pictures of the mushroom you cooked (on your phone\, etc).\n \nFrom 3:30 to 4:30 we will have a guided mushroom walk around the property. We will have a mushroom ID table so bring your recent finds for identification! We will also have merch for sale. \nSnacks and drinks will be provided but you are encouraged to bring something to share if you’d like. This event is free and paid for by donations to the PMC.  \nMeet near the Lower Merion Cottage\, off to the left as you drive into the park\, away from the dog park.

If you are able\, please consider choosing the Donation Ticket option at checkout to give an amount of your choice** \nMeet at the Weisel Farm House – High Bridge Trailhead at 1pm. After a brief introduction we will break apart to look for mushrooms. If it is your first time and/or you feel like you need guidance you will be able to follow more experienced members. At 3pm we will all meet back at the starting point to identify and talk about what we found and have a little picnic. Feel free to bring a snack or drink too\, we will provide light refreshments for everyone.  \nPlease sign up for carpooling   if you need a ride to the event or are willing/able to take some fellow foragers to and from the foray.  \nChildren are welcome to attend. Dogs are also welcome\, but we ask you to keep them on leash at all times. \nPlease dress appropriately for outdoor activities. Close-toed shoes and long pants are recommended due to poison ivy and ticks. \nBy registering for this event you grant the Philadelphia Mycology Club to use photographs and/or video of you taken at the event in publications\, online\, and in other communications related to  the Philadelphia Mycology Club.
