Founded in 1979\, Mountainfilm is one of America’s longest-running film festivals. The annual festival is held every Memorial Day weekend in Telluride\, CO. Mountainfilm is a dynamic nonprofit organization and festival that celebrate adventure\, activism\, social justice\, environment and indomitable spirit. \nMountainfilm on Tour in Malvern\, PA will feature a collection of culturally rich\, adventure-packed and engaging documentary short films that align with Mountainfilm’s mission to use the power of film\, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world. Doors open for the event at 6:30 and the show will kick off at 7:00 PM. \nPenn State Great Valley strives to host inclusive\, accessible events that enable all individuals in our community to engage fully. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day and National Parks Week with ecologist Roger Latham!\n\n\nStep into the Pennsylvania Piedmont with ecologist and conservation biologist Roger Latham to uncover the unique geology and ecology that make Southeastern PA’s wildlands truly special. Explore freshwater tidal marshes\, mafic glades\, forests on diabase soils\, and serpentine barrens–all home to many state-endangered species. Learn about the natural history and ongoing stewardship of these ecosystems\, found nowhere else in the state. \nPresented in partnership with Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens and Valley Forge Park Alliance. \nRoger Latham has worked as a research ecologist\, conservation biologist and environmental planner since 1973. After earning his Ph.D. in biology at the University of Pennsylvania\, he served as Pennsylvania Director of Science and Stewardship for The Nature Conservancy\, post-doctoral researcher in biogeochemistry and fire ecology in the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Geology\, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Swarthmore College. Since 2000 he has been a full-time consultant\, conducting applied research and planning for the National Park Service\, The Nature Conservancy\, Natural Lands Trust\, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy\, Audubon\, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources\, and other organizations and agencies involved in wildland restoration and management and endangered species recovery. \nPenn State Great Valley strives to host inclusive\, accessible events that enable all individuals in our community to engage fully.
