DESCRIPTION:This multimedia exploration will encompass an evening of experimental ambient music and video projections inspired by the local watershed.\n\n\nThe preeminent Philadelphia DJ\, Composer\, Producer\, Sound Designer and Music Experimentalist June Lopez will perform de/compostion: Native Trees\, Sonic Roots\, a set of genre-defying music and experimental soundscapes based on the inspiration of found sounds in Tookany/Tacony-Frankford (TTF) Watershed and Tacony Creek Park. \nde/compostion: Native Trees\, Sonic Roots will be inspired by the field recordings and audio research June is engaged with\, including the trees and other elements from the watershed. Natural processes\, such as composting\, are also sources for sound. \nJune will be in collaboration with the video projection team of Samara Talkin and Neil Cippon. They will immerse the venue space in projections of collected images and footage of the watershed and nature on the interior of Bennett Compost in synchronization with the music and sound. \n(WARNING: Intense lighting will be used during this show. It will not be safe for those with epilepsy and other conditions with sensitivity to light.) \nSpecial guest narrator and our “in-house science dramaturg”\, Dr. Jame McCray will illuminate audiences with narratives from the watershed. \nWritten and recorded reflections by local residents on their relationship with trees and nature will also be interwoven into the soundscape. \nThis unique site specific event will be hosted at Bennett Compost\, adjacent to Tacony Creek Park. \nThis event is supported by a grant from TreePhilly\, a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Program; PHMC\, and William Penn Foundation. \nTreePhilly is a program of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy\, sponsored by TD Bank. We help Philadelphia residents plant and care for trees. \nAdditional support provided by our friends at Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership. \n*** \nThere will be an optional pre-show twilight walk of Tacony Creek Park at 6:45 PM to experience firsthand the urban green space and watershed that has directly inspired de/composition. DESCRIPTION:A multicultural celebration of youth creativity in dance and movement that highlights different cultural expressions all on one stage!\n\n\nOlney Culture Lab of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia is excited to announce the Olney Youth Arts Festival will be back again in 2025! This multicultural celebration of youth creativity continues to focus on dance and movement by our young people. The event is designed to highlight different ethnic expressions towards cross-cultural awareness and to showcase the strength of various arts programs serving the children and youth in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. \nThe vast array of dance featured will include: breaking\, hip hop\, salsa\, tap\, ballet\, modern\, ethnic folk dances\, among others. \nAnd who can forget the debut of A Taste of Olney in tandem with the festival last year! We plan on having an equally vibrant representation of foods both savory and sweet from restaurants and caterers from the neighborhood all throughout the day\, culminating with a dinner around 4 PM. \nLastly\, there will also be a resource fair at the event sharing valuable information for the community. \nMain support for this event is made possible through a generosity of the William Penn Foundation. DESCRIPTION:Sunday in the park – acoustic music in the vibrant lush community garden setting\n\n\nOlney Culture Lab is proud to bring announce the line-up for the 2025 performance series at Roots Garden in Fisher Park. This series of outdoor performances held in the lush green space of the Roots Community Garden in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia was a breath of fresh air for attendees and performers alike. \nJune 1 – Joseph Harrison (percussionist\, children’s book author and agricultural expert) \nJune 22 – Shinjoo Cho – Oscuro Trio (Argentine Tango bandoneón) \nJuly 20 – Dan Blacksberg – (Klezmer Trombone) \nAugust 20 – TBD \nThe event will also feature catering by local chefs who will offer light snacks and refreshments. \nAttendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. There will be some folding seats available. Parking is on the street at West Spencer. \nIn the event of inclement weather\, the event will be held at a location to-be determind. \nThis series is produced in partnership with the Fisher Park Community Alliance and the Roots Community Garden. DESCRIPTION:A multicultural celebration of youth creativity in dance and movement that highlights different cultural expressions all on one stage!\n\n\nAfter a momentous return from a four year hiatus last fall\, Olney Culture Lab of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia is excited to announce the Olney Youth Arts Festival will be back again in 2024! This multicultural celebration of youth creativity continues to focus on dance and movement by our young people. The event is designed to highlight different ethnic expressions towards cross-cultural awareness and to showcase the strength of various arts programs serving the children and youth in Philadelphia’s neighborhoods. \nThe vast array of dance featured will include: breaking\, hip hop\, salsa\, tap\, ballet\, modern\, ethnic folk dances\, among others. \nAnd who can forget the debut of A Taste of Olney in tandem with the festival last year! We plan on having an equally vibrant representation of foods both savory and sweet from restaurants and caterers from the neighborhood all throughout the day\, culminating with a dinner around 4 PM. \nLastly\, there will also be a resource fair at the event sharing valuable information for the community. \nMain support for this event is made possible through a generosity of the William Penn Foundation.
