This in-person event is perfect for book lovers of all ages. Whether you’re into thrilling stories\, cool workshops\, or just want to hang out with fellow readers\, there’s something for everyone. Also-take home free books!!! Mark your calendar and come support literacy in Germantown – we can’t wait to see you there! \nStory time and poetry \nLocal children’s authors take turns reading their books in the Children’s Section all morning\, and they’ll be at their tables before and after to say hello. In the Poetry Section\, poets including Philadelphia Poet Laureate Raina J. León and the city’s Youth Poet Laureate Emi Wong Shing will host workshops.  \nFor adults and teens \nWorkshops and conversations run throughout the day on topics like herbal wellness\, getting started as an author\, overcoming the odds\, Black imagination\, and stress relief through art and music. \nDrop in anytime \nFamily storytelling and art with Iris Elena Coates\, a Mario Kart video game corner\, and a Pokémon hangout for talking\, trading\, reading\, or playing. \nFree books and snacks \nEvery young person can take home free books from our giveaway\, stocked by local partners. Snacks are from Germantown Fridge.

SUMMARY:Stitch and Bitch at Natural Creativity
DESCRIPTION:A relaxed evening of sewing\, mending\, and good company on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Bring a project or start one. All skill levels we\n\n\nBring whatever you’ve been meaning to finish — the hem you’ve been ignoring\, the quilt top in the closet\, the jacket that needs a patch — and spend an evening making progress in good company. \n \nHand sewing\, machine sewing\, knitting\, crochet\, embroidery\, mending. Whatever you’re working on\, bring it. \n \nHenry leads the sewing and fabric arts program at Natural Creativity\, and on the first Thursday of each month he’s opening the studio. You’ll have sewing machines\, a well-stocked supply of fabric and notions\, and someone on hand when you get stuck. \n \nAll ages\, novice to expert. If you’ve never threaded a machine\, we’ll show you. If you’re mid-project and just want somewhere to work with other people around\, that works too. The making and the company matter in roughly equal measure. \n \nWhat to bring: a project if you have one\, or just yourself. We’ll have materials for anyone starting fresh. \n \nCost: Free to register. Suggested price is $10 per person\, with a $30 family cap. No one is turned away for lack of funds. Cash or Venmo (@NaturalCreativityCenter) at the door. \n \nWhere: 3820 The Oak Road\, Philadelphia (East Falls). Free parking on site. \n \nWhen: Second Thursdays\, 6:30–8:30 PM — October 8\, November 12\, and December 10. We’re testing this out\, so come tell us what you’d want more of. \n \nChildren are welcome with a parent or caregiver staying to supervise — we won’t have separate childcare\, and there are needles and machines in the room. \n \nNatural Creativity is a self-directed learning community for young people ages 5–18 in Northwest Philadelphia.
