SUMMARY:Jesse Krimes Mural Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Please join us in celebrating artist Jesse’s newest mural\, created in collaboration with the Mural Arts Rec Crew.\n\n\nPlease join us in celebrating artist Jesse’s newest mural\, created in collaboration with the Mural Arts Rec Crew\, part of the Restorative Justice program at Mural Arts Philadelphia. Installed at 990 Spring Garden\, a building owned by Arts + Crafts Holdings and led by longtime Mural Arts supporter Craig Grossman\, this project reflects the power of art as a tool for healing and collaboration. \nThe mural is inspired by Jesse’s Elegy Quilt series and draws directly from a set of hands-on workshops with eight Rec Crew participants. Each participant created their own collage in the style of Jesse’s signature quilts\, and elements from each of those works were thoughtfully woven into the final mural design; resulting in a collective piece that honors individual expression while telling a shared story.

SUMMARY:El Bloque de Oro Dedication
DESCRIPTION:Artistic storefront enhancements along North 5th Street’s “El Bloque de Oro\,” a key commercial corridor for Philadelphia’s Latino community.\n\n\nMural Arts\, in partnership with HACE\, developed artistic storefront enhancements along North 5th Street’s “El Bloque de Oro\,” a key commercial corridor for Philadelphia’s Latino community. Artist Henry Morales designed three custom murals and other enhancements at three different properties along the block. The artist engaged with two senior living facilities in the area and six different business owners along the 2700 block of N. 5th Street to gather input\, which included conversations about the neighborhood’s history\, personal immigration stories\, and each person’s national origin. From these conversations\, the artist developed designs that include the business owners’ national flowers and other historically significant patterns. Each design is a unique composition that is custom-made for each location. Together\, they tell the story of countless individuals who continue to uplift and underscore the historical importance of Philadelphia’s Latino community.
