DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Great Marsh Institute\, Chester County’s unique habitat for the study of flora and fauna as well as the unique characteristics of the Periglacial marsh. It is the purpose of the Great Marsh Institute (GMI) to support scientific studies through access to the property\, technical support\, and opportunities for educational activities including funding for student interns. \nThe Great Marsh also has an IBA (Important Bird Area) designation of D3 from Audubon. D3: Sites that contain rare or unique habitat or are an exceptional representative of an ecological community type\, and that hold important species or species assemblages largely restricted to a distinctive habitat or ecological community type.

DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nTrip Leader: Troy Bynum \nJoin us at Dixon Meadow Preserve\, located on the corner of Thomas and Flourtown Roads in Whitemarsh Township. With its 14 acres repurposed in 2014 and its boardwalk measuring nearly two-thirds of a mile\, the Preserve is a haven for birders\, walkers\, and those who enjoy the area’s natural flora and fauna. With over 180 species reported on eBird\, we’re bound to find something special. \nAttendees will meet at the parking lot before walking down to the preserve. \nDixon Meadow Preserve eBird Hotspot \nA Note About Our Field Trips:\nWe encourage participants to regularly check both the Liberty Bird Alliance website and Facebook page in advance of a field trip as the meeting location can change due to road construction\, a park closure\, weather conditions\, or other last-minute circumstances. If you have any questions about a field trip\, please contact: libertybirdalliance@gmail.com. Plan to arrive a few minutes before the scheduled time of the field trip. The time stated is the STARTING time\, not the arrival time. This will give you time to get yourself ready\, say hello\, visit a restroom\, and be ready to go. DESCRIPTION:The Basics of Maintaining a Native Plant Garden\nHayden Remick\nHayden Remick founded Remick Native Landscapes after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in History at Goucher College (2013) and a Master’s of Science in Sustainable Design at Philadelphia University (2020). After years of work managing sustainable garden programs for commercial and charitable institutions in the region\, He established a small business to help homeowners and others create beauty and environmental resilience in residential landscapes. Hayden also wants to spread the joy he has found working with native plants and ecosystem restoration. Hayden is committed to building and helping others enjoy a sustainable world. \nThis presentation will cover many aspects of designing and maintaining a Native Plant garden with a focus on attracting birds to your yard.  The conversation will cover ideas ranging from basic methods to start a garden\, plant selection and arrangement\, maintenance considerations and others strategies for maximizing the ecological benefits of your space \nRegister here \nNOTE:  All our meetings are hybrid in nature.  Please do come to the location to interact live with the speaker and members of the audience.  However\, when you register\, you will also receive a Zoom link\, which will allow you to view the meeting online\, in case you are unable to attend in person.
