DESCRIPTION:FOR ADULTS AND TEENS AGES 12-17\nA leisurely-paced tour with collection highlights\, gardens\, and a bit of Tyler history. \nDiscover the beauty of Tyler’s northern collections as you travel from Magnolia Field\, through the Native Woodland walk\, stop at Lucille’s Garden\, and end your journey at the Pollinator Preserve. Along the way\, you’ll learn how climate\, water management\, and the plants themselves all play a role in the collections and the broader ecosystem.\nAbout your guide: Since retiring from Penn Dental Medicine\, Dr. Woody Kotch reignited his passion for the natural world. Through training at Tyler\, the PA Master Naturalist program\, the Xerces Society Ambassador Training\, and his own research\, he developed new tours for Tyler\, blending environmental science and history. DESCRIPTION:FOR ALL AGES\nConnect your family with the outdoors on this fun\, interactive nature exploration designed to spark curiosity and wonder. Using simple tools like magnifying glasses\, you will uncover the Arboretum’s plants\, animals\, and other seasonal highlights that bring the woodland trails to life.\nRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED\nThe program is best suited for elementary school-aged children accompanied by an adult. Family and siblings of any age are welcome. Check in at the Visitor Center\, where you’ll meet your guide. As with any walk at Tyler\, sturdy shoes are suggested. PLEASE NOTE: Strollers may not be ideal on some of our trails. We recommend a carrier if you plan to bring an infant or young child. Weather or other factors may adjust the day’s topic\, but nature will always shine through! Explore the internal arts of T’ai Chi and Qigong while practicing movements rooted in traditional Chinese medicine\, Taoist Qigong\, and T’ai Chi forms. Move through gentle sequences that sometimes travel across the room and other times are performed in a small standing space. Modify movements from a seated position if needed (please let the instructor know in advance if you have mobility concerns). Whether you’re brand new to T’ai Chi\, building your skills\, or have previous experience\, you’ll find a welcoming practice that meets you where you are.\nAbout your instructor: Gabrielle de Burke is a movement artist\, educator\, and instructor with more than 25 years of experience in T’ai Chi\, Qigong\, Taoist internal arts\, and mindful movement. She began studying these practices while earning her degree in Theater from Temple University and later trained extensively under Master Chik Quadir Mason. Gabrielle has taught people of all ages and abilities in community\, educational\, and wellness settings while also working as an award-winning performance artist.
