SUMMARY:Housing Justice Values Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate with us and get a copy of the Housing Justice Values!\n\n\nThe Housing Justice Values document is a project of and reflection of Germantown Residents for Economic Alternatives Together (GREAT). It has been informed by several community conversations we’ve hosted over the years and is a collaboration amongst GREAT Organizers\, Housing Committee members\, and Learning Circle participants. GREAT writers integrated feedback from folks involved in GREAT’s housing work\, via surveys and meetings. This document is not an action plan. It is a living document which can guide the development of solutions\, projects\, plans\, and initiatives. \n \n:: Open-house style :: Readings :: Write a haiku :: Social networking :: Food & drinks :: \n \nBe there by 6:30 if you don’t want to miss anything\, but feel free to come anytime you are available! This is a pretty unstructured casual event\, and we’re happy to have you even if just passing through. \nWe’ll have copies of the book\, t-shirts\, posters\, and stickers… everything is donation-based / pay what you wish. \nThere will also be information about GREAT and getting involved\, as well as housing resources.

SUMMARY:GREAT Housing Info & Action-Planning Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Get involved and help build power and relationships to prevent displacement and create Beloved Community in Germantown.\n\n\nIn 2019 GREAT began hosting community discussions and events about housing and development in Germantown. That work generated many relationships\, connections\, collective learning\, analysis\, and a strong foundation to build on. This year marks a shift toward a stronger action / community-organizing approach. \nOur Info & Action-Planning Meeting on June 5th is a call for Germantown folks who want to get more involved\, to get started with us. \nThe format of the event will be very interactive. GREAT / Housing Committee folks will share information about current and upcoming projects\, and we will break into small groups to start working on some of these projects. (see diagram below) \nOur hope is that this event will help build our core team\, to continue working with. \nMaleka will facilitate and we’ll break into small groups so folks can focus in on a particular project they’re interested in: \n\nHousing outreach effort (mapping\, outreach practice\, tips for communication and story-sharing)\nOrganizer’s Guide (start building the content\, what would you need to know / share if you were reaching out to your neighbors)\nAffordable housing list (what affordable housing exists in Germantown? start on the list\, and create a plan for how to add to it)\nMutual Aid Fund 2.0 (brainstorm what this could look like- structure\, values\, resources)\n\nWe’ll also offer a Learning Circle sign-up and might have part of the Housing Justice Values document ready to distribute. We will have a follow-up meeting scheduled so we can continue building before taking a Summer break. \n \n*** Please sign up by May 29th *** \nChildcare\, dinner\, and refreshments are provided\, so your RSVP helps us plan and order accurately. \nFree parking is available in the lot next to GLEC. \nwww.greatgtown.org
