As part of Historic Germantown’s neighborhood Firefly Hours initiative\, Allens Lane Art Center invites the community to gather outdoors at dusk for a three-evening spring fiber arts series. \n \nAs evening settles in\, participants will learn the basics of small frame weaving using natural fibers and calming\, repetitive techniques. This session emphasizes rhythm and texture — a meditative practice that mirrors the slow flicker of fireflies at dusk. Participants may incorporate their printed fabric from Night One if they wish.

Using simple techniques such as stenciling\, leaf rubbings\, or fabric imprints\, everyone can create unique designs on fabric. This all-ages\, activity encourages observation\, experimentation\, and play with natural forms. Fabric pieces created during this session can be brought back to incorporate in the following workshops.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to discover how the arts can transform our perspectives on aging and strengthen community.\n\n\nJoin the Art on Wheels’ Creative Aging Training! \nWant to discover how the arts can transform our perspectives on aging and strengthen our communities? \nArt on Wheels* presents Creative Aging: the Essentials\, a FREE online workshop led by Lifetime Arts\, a national leader in training and advocacy for arts programs that support older adults. \nThis training is open to anyone interested in how creativity can expand quality of life and strengthen community. We especially encourage teaching artists\, volunteers\, family members\, caregivers\, and others who work with older adults to attend. Together\, we will explore how thoughtful\, high-quality creative engagement can foster connection\, spark joy\, and build community through care and shared experience. \n*Art on Wheels is an innovative three-year\, multi-program initiative developed in collaboration by Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels and Allens Lane Art Center\, and funded by the Sarah Ralston Foundation. We are seeking artists and volunteers to help connect older adults in our area with meaningful\, skill-building arts experiences delivered through and alongside Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels services.
