DESCRIPTION:Meeting at Historic RittenhouseTown (208 Lincoln Drive)\nParking and Transit: If you’re driving\, there’s a small parking lot by our meeting location next to house #208. Parking in the paved lot along Lincoln Drive is not recommended\, as it’s known to get some car break-ins. If you’re taking public transit\, our location is accessible via buses 65 and 53\, as well as the Chestnut Hill West train line. See map for details.\nBathrooms: There will be limited restroom access during the service day. \nWould you like to be part of keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join longtime Wissahickon steward David Bower and his dedicated team of Crew Leaders and Trail Ambassadors for a variety of stewardship tasks! \nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities: \n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping\, digging\, tamping\, and cutting; moving heavy objects\n• Planting site maintenance: using long handled tools for cutting\, scraping\, and digging\n• Invasive plant removal: bending over\, using long handled tools for cutting vines\n• Litter clean-up \nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email one business day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people\, please reach out to us first. \nRegistration is required for all volunteer service days so that participants can be informed of emergency cancellations.
