Keeping them safe and enjoyable takes ongoing work\, and our trained Crew Leaders play a key role in this\, guiding small teams of Zone Stewards to care for different sections of the park. \nThis Saturday\, we’re bringing extra volunteer support to the park’s Northeast corner (Chestnut Hill area) for a variety of stewardship tasks. This service day is one in a series of Zone Steward-led service events happening throughout the summer. \nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities: \n• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping\, digging\, tamping\, and cutting; moving heavy objects\n• Drain-clearing: carrying and using long handled tools\n• Litter clean-up \nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. This is a great opportunity for those who are looking to learn more about plant identification and restoration techniques while connecting with nature and other members of your community. Together\, we will work to remove invasive plant species and improve our trails. \nWorkday Details \nNo experience necessary to volunteer. Training will be provided by our expert staff during the workday. We recommend wearing long pants\, sturdy boots or shoes. We will have a selection of gloves if needed but volunteers are welcome to bring their own if they have a favorite pair. We will provide tools for our volunteers.
