DESCRIPTION:Welcome to l a y e r s! \nWest Philly-based artist\, shanina dionna\, shares 15 years of making\, becoming\, + returning through “l a y e r s\,” bringing together new + earlier works\, tracing what we carry\, uncover\, + gather over time. This is an invitation to slow down + be. \nThrough painting\, film\, installation\, archival materials\, intentional music curation (including a live band)\, + a new collaboration with a local ceramicist from Artifact Studio\, the l a y e r s experience explores identity + belonging while making room for connection\, curiosity + encounter. \nThe exhibition will also feature “Their Light: Pillars in Their Sacred Spaces” – a film produced by shanina dionna + edited by local rockstars at Creative Repute. The film celebrates community pillars + the sacred spaces they have cultivated across Philadelphia. \nl a y e r s is supported in part by the Leeway Foundation’s Transformation Award. \nEnter.
