SUMMARY:Lincoln Drive Clean-Up
DESCRIPTION:This event was originally scheduled to be our Annual Creek Clean-up\, but due to weather concerns\, we’ve moved our Lincoln Drive clean-up to this date instead. If you were already registered for the creek clean-up\, your registration rolls over. \nMeeting at Historic RittenhouseTown\nParking in the paved lot along Lincoln Drive is not recommended\, as it is the site of frequent car break-ins. Regardless of where you park\, be sure to refrain from leaving any valuables in your car.\nPlease note that there will be bathroom access during the service day.\nWe have very exciting plans for this service day. We will be closing Lincoln Drive (the only main road that runs right next to the creek within Wissahickon Valley Park) from Wissahickon Avenue down to Ridge Avenue for a large-scale litter clean-up. Come help us make this often travelled section of the park cleaner!\nAll are welcome to attend\, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level\, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said\, this service day may include the following activities:\n• Litter clean-up: carrying trash bags up to 20 lbs\n• Hiking up to 1 mile (we’ll be traveling up and down Lincoln Drive picking up trash)\n• Repetitive motions\nWe provide gloves\, tools\, and instruction—you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants\, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information will be sent by email the day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people\, please reach out to us first. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.\nPhoto courtesy of Mike Mergen\nRegister Below!

Visitors can peek into American history with General George Washington’s headquarters and an encampment of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. \n \nThis is also home to the National Memorial Arch\, modeled after Rome’s Arch of Titus. Dedicated in 1917\, this grand structure memorializes the triumphant arrival of General Washington and the Continental Army during the winter of 1777-78. \n \nNatural beauty also adorns the tour route. Along with the scenic park grounds the Schuylkill River and Perkiomen Creek provide ample waterside vistas to take in along the way. SUMMARY:Clothing Swap at STITCH AND DESTROY
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wanted to donate your clothing to STITCH AND DESTROY? Now you can at our monthly Clothing Swaps! Bring your unwanted clothing and textiles- wearable or not- and take home something new. Any clothing and textiles left over from the swap will be used to create our upcycled fashions. Our monthly Clothing Swaps will take place every last Saturday of the month unless otherwise stated. \nWhy a clothing swap? We want to keep as much textile waste out of the landfill as possible\, but first we want this clothing to be worn by our community. While our upcycled garments are made only from textile waste (and we save every scrap)\, the most sustainable garment is what’s already in your (or someone else’s) closet. Plus\, we only have so much storage space 🙂 \nBring a maximum of 20 garments or textiles to STITCH AND DESTROY at any time during the Clothing Swap hours (noon-5pm)\, and take home as many garments from the swap as you’d like! There will be clothing that is damaged/unwearable so if you upcycle too\, this swap is also for you! You do not have to bring clothing to take clothing and vice-versa. This is a FREE event.
