SUMMARY:Botanical Illustration: Creating a Botanical Sketchbook
DESCRIPTION:Taught by Margaret Saylor\, Artist; Member\, American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators \nThe wonderful natural elements that make up our autumn outdoor world are perfect botanical subjects! We’ll draw or paint new family of specimens each week. You’ll create a sketchbook page based on the week’s topic. Not only will we learn about that week’s botanical theme\, but we’ll see how these subjects fit into the broader realm of contemporary botanical art. Themes will include: flowers\, fungi\, moss\, lichens\, leaves\, seed pods\, gourds\, and fir trees. \nMargaret Saylor is the editor/designer of ASBA’s The Botanical Artist journal. She earned a certificate in botanical art and illustration\, with distinction\, from the NYBG. \nAll levels welcome; some drawing experience helpful but not necessary. We will work in graphite\, Micron pen\, and/or watercolor. A Zoom link and a recommended materials list will be emailed to all participants.
