SUMMARY:Self Care Sundays
DESCRIPTION:Black Lotus Holistic Health Collective presents Self Care Sundays with meditation and yoga classes.\n\n\nWelcome to Self Care Sundays! Join us on Sundays at 11:00 AM for some time dedicated to self-care and relaxation. This event will take place at Black Lotus HHC at 206 Rittenhousetown Lane\, where you can unwind and focus on yourself. \nTake part in yoga sessions\, meditation exercises\, and mindfulness activities to rejuvenate your mind and body. Treat yourself to healthy snacks and refreshments while connecting with like-minded individuals. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to prioritize your well-being and practice self-love. See you there! \n\n\n\n\nMore about Black Lotus HHC \n \nBlack Lotus Holistic Healing Collective is known for is a space designed for BIPOC healers/practitioners to be centered in the healing in order for them to heal those in the BIPOC community. Vibrational healing is the ancient art of healing with sound; it traces back to ancient Egypt & Tibet. Sound vibrations can heal the physical body at a cellular level by adjusting blockages and imbalances. These imbalances can cause the body to have a slower frequency vibration which may lead to dis-ease or illnesses. Natural healing sound frequencies can be transferred or introduced externally or directly into the body to create a more harmonious state. \nAt Black Lotus\, we combine the use of crystal chakra singing bowls\, gongs\, tuning forks\, and more to give a relaxing & transformative experience. We can balance chakras\, repair auras\, uplift the mood or help with grounding. Vibrational healing is a great tool for meditation\, alleviating stress\, and relaxing stiff or sore muscles. \nFor more visit: www.diasporaeducationalservices.org/black-lotus \nhttps://linktr.ee/blacklotushhc \n\n\n\nDIRECTIONS: \n \nBlack Lotus is not on Lincoln Drive despite the address…it is actually on Rittenhousetown Lane. SUMMARY:McKaig Nature Center Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us for some enjoyable exercise: an approximately 2.2-3.5 mile hike on trails at McKaig Nature Center in Wayne\, PA. The difficulty level will be moderate\, with speeds around 3 to 3.5 mph in the easier sections\, and lower in hilly and uneven sections (rocks\, tree roots\, etc.); total elevation gain will be approximately 350-650 feet. There is not much total elevation gain\, but some of the elevation occurs over short distances (meaning: steep but short section). There are plenty of flatter and downhill sections. We will stop periodically\, especially at the tops of hills if some go up faster than others\, so that we all continue on the same hike. \nMeet in the Roberts Elementary School parking lot (next to McKaig Nature Center) at the above address. GPS coordinates: 40.0750\, -75.3861 \nBring water\, clothing appropriate for the weather (layers work well)\, sturdy footwear (hiking shoes or boots work well)\, and a smile. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a 6’ or shorter leash as required by the park.\nIf the hike is canceled\, such as due to weather\, we plan to announce this at least two hours in advance.

SUMMARY:TERRA: Bodies and Territories
DESCRIPTION:The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education presents TERRA: Bodies and Territories\, an immersive performance staged outdoors on forested land. This innovative theatrical work is the creation of Silvana Cardell\, an acclaimed choreographer whose work contends with social struggles. TERRA: Bodies and Territories confronts the profound shared vulnerabilities between women’s bodies and the natural environment. In this highly experimental work\, a multi-generational ensemble of women and femme dancers enact a sequence of symbolic narratives.\nComposer Devin Arne amplifies the drama of the forest with a sound score that blends field recordings and musical instrumentation. Sculptural set pieces by visual artist Sarah Kavage and costumes by Vasi Zivanic visually complement the natural environment\, the dancers’ movements\, and Cardell’s conceptual themes.\nTERRA will be performed outdoors on June 13\, 14\, 15 and 20\, 21\, and 22.\nPurchase Tickets\nPerformance Space\nTERRA is performed outdoors in a forested space with open seating. Audience members are invited to sit on natural log “seats” and stand or move freely in the performance space. If you need assistance with accommodations due to mobility limitations or if you require guaranteed seating\, please check “yes” on the registration form when you purchase tickets. In case of severe weather\, ticket holders will be contacted via email about rescheduled performances.\nGetting to the Schuylkill Center\nThe Schuylkill Center is located in Upper Roxborough\, Northwest Philadelphia\, at 8480 Hagy’s Mill Road\, Philadelphia\, PA 19128. There is a parking lot and Visitor Center and restrooms on site. Please see our Directions and Maps page for information about getting here via car\, bus\, train\, or bike.\nOn June 15 and 21 a shuttle service is available to the Schuylkill Center from Taller Puertorriqueno (2600 N 5th St\, Philadelphia\, PA 19133) and from the corner of Ridge Ave and Port Royal Ave. For more information about shuttle service\, check the indicated box when you purchase tickets.\nSupport for TERRA\nMajor support for TERRA has been provided by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage\, with additional support from Georgian Court University\, and the 2025 Creative Sector Flex Fund\, a program by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

We acknowledge the strength of the women who shaped us\, grounding us in our identity. Only Love Grows is an act of remembrance for the soil that nurtures not just our food\, but also our very being. Together\, we honor our past while creating new memories\, ensuring that the legacy of love continues. \nOn 6/14\, we’ll honor Mary Chambers “Mom Chambers” as we explore her Panamanian immigrant story and her deeply rooted faith journey. \nEach guest will receive a recipe card\, a slice of cake to take home\, and a favor bag filled with sweet treats\, tea\, and more. \nAll supplies are included. SUMMARY:NO KINGS in Philadelphia
DESCRIPTION:Time\n\n\nSaturday\, June 14\n12 – 3pm EDT\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nLocation\n\n\nLOVE Park\nArch Street & North 15th Street\n\nPhiladelphia\, PA 19102 \nMap\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn America\, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies. We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech\, detained people for their political views\, threatened to deport American citizens\, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies. \n🚨On Saturday\, June 14\, we’re taking to the streets nationwide. We’re not gathering to feed his ego. We’re building a movement that leaves him behind.🚨 \nIn Philadelphia we will gather at LOVE Park at Noon. At 12:30 we’ll march down the Ben Franklin Parkway to the Philadelphia Museum of Art where we will hear from some amazing speakers. \nThe flag doesn’t belong to Donald Trump. It belongs to us. We’re not watching history happen. We’re making it. \nOn June 14th\, we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones\, no crowns\, no kings. Check out nokings.org for more information. \nA core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Woven Stories: An Introduction to Mindful Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Join Linda Ruggiero for an afternoon of mindful weaving. In this free\, all-levels workshop\, participants will learn the basics of weaving.\n\n\nJoin Linda Ruggiero for an afternoon of mindful weaving. In this all-levels workshop\, participants will learn the basics of hand weaving and will create a unique textile wall hanging. \nWe will begin class with an introduction to weaving on a frame loom\, and students will learn the basics of warping and weaving the basic stitch: plain weave. Once comfortable with these techniques\, each student will be asked to consider a story or memory in their personal life that they would like to represent in their textile. Using color cards and color psychology theory\, students will choose fabrics\, yarn\, and threads that represent elements of their stories to create their own personalized weavings. Participants will be invited to hang their work in the gallery space until the end of the exhibition\, or they can take their work home with them. \n \nNo experience needed; all materials provided. If you have your own fabric or yarn scraps that you would like to use\, please feel free to bring them. \n \nDVAA uses art to connect people and build collective resilience in spaces across Greater Philadelphia. Help support this sliding-scale event—and many more like it—with a donation of $10–$25! All DVAA programming is NOTAFLOF (No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds). If cost is a barrier\, email marketing@davinciartalliance.org to request a free ticket.
