SUMMARY:Cassies Craft Coven and Cherry Street Pier Present: Eggy
DESCRIPTION:Show of art celebrating the many themes of Spring\, with a concentration on all things EGG\n\n\nThe Craft Coven is hosting our second annual EGGY art show in the Cherry Street Pier first floor gallery until April 30th 2025. Opening reception will take place on April 4th for First Friday. \nWhat is EGGY?The theme eggy can be interpreted in many ways. This show is meant to be a celebration of all that Spring holds for our community. There are images that we connect with this time of year: eggs\, rabbits\, flowers\, raindrops\, color palette of pastels\, greens and pinks just for example. For some\, Spring is a moment of rebirth\, renewal and new beginnings. For others it’s when we get together to eat egg salad and get free candy. Join us to see a selection of work addressing this broad theme. \nThis show spans two locations- the community work will be displayed at Cherry Street Pier in their first floor gallery space. Work by Craft Coven organizer Cassie Jones will be on display at the Craft Coven Underground stufio at 10 north 3rd street. Stay tuned for more details on our planned gallery tour from Cherry Street Pier\, around Old City\, and ending at The Underground studio.

SUMMARY:Outdoors for All (Community Day Conference)
DESCRIPTION:Outdoors for All (Day Conference) convenes urban outdoor advocates around discussions centering improvement of access to natural resources.\n\n\nSince the summer of 2023\, the Sally Blagg Family Foundation has been building relationships with landscape partners from across the Appalachian landscapes. Our goal was to return to our early American roots of environmental stewardship; exploration\, subsistence farming and forest management. As we spent more time with individuals and institutions west of the fall line it became clear that deeper\, more intentional\, connectivity was necessary to bridge the so-called “urban/rural divide.” \nThe Outdoors for All (Community Day Conference) is a convening of urban outdoor advocates\, coming together around a series of discussions that center on improving access to state\, federal (public) as well as private lands for American family.

Join the Wagner Museum and our community partners\, The Discovery Center\, The Land Health Institute\, and the Sanctuary Farm\, in spotting the different signs of spring! \nOutside in the Wagner’s yard\, observe the shapes\, sizes\, and colors of different native flowers with The Land Health Institute. Then get an up-close look at a buzzing bee colony with Sanctuary Farm‘s real-life observation hive! In addition to observing\, engage your creative skills by drawing animal-track patterns on fabric bandanas\, pulling inspiration from animal tracks found in the Wagner’s yard. The Wagner will have binoculars\, magnifying glasses\, natural identification guides\, and friendly staff on hand to help visitors learn from the different natural resources in our yard. \nInside the museum\, see the colors of spring among our 100\,000+ natural history specimens\, including local birds like the Purple Martin\, Yellow-winged Sparrow\, and American Goldfinch. Additionally\, members from The Discovery Center will give a lively presentation in the Wagner’s lecture hall at 1PM and again at 3PM on the vital role of native pollinators and native plants in supporting both environmental health and community well-being. The talk will explore the role of pollinators in contributing to ecosystem resilience\, local agriculture\, and biodiversity. The talk will end with a brief introduction to iNaturalist\, an online community science tool. \nFamilies will also be able to choose books at variety of different reading levels to read in the yard and take home\, thanks to donations from Tree House Books! \n\n\n\nThe Exhibit Hall will also be open from 12 – 4pm for self-guided exploration of the natural history collection throughout the day. Explore our 100\,000 natural history specimens\, including ancient fossils\, glowing minerals and animals from around the globe. Visitors can wander at their own pace\, follow the path of one of our themed scavenger hunts\, or even fill in a coloring page with images from the Wagner’s library! \nWalk-ins are welcome! Advance registration merely speeds your entry to the museum. Visitors who register in advance do not need to present their registration or a confirmation email at the desk—just your name! \nThank you to our partners! \nThe Land Health Institute is a nonprofit based in the West Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia providing at-the-source environmental education and community-based land revitalization. \nSanctuary Farm is a non-profit organization and urban farm providing free\, fresh\, organically grown produce and implementing programs that enhance the health and well-being of our community members. \nThe Discovery Center\, a partnership between The National Audubon Society and the Philadelphia Outward Bound School\, protects a unique habitat rarely found in a major urban area while providing environmental education and adventure programs. \nTree House Books is a Giving Library and Literacy Center headquartered in North Philadelphia that provides free books to children and families and provides different literacy building programs. \n \nThings to Know Before Your Visit\n\nWalk-in visitors are welcome.
