SUMMARY:Over\, Under\, Around and Through the Wissahickon Watershed with Lisa Donahue and Jon McCabe
DESCRIPTION:Mt Airy Ave Trailhead \nAn exciting hike through some of the most interesting and historically significant areas of the park. We will visit the wildlife at the frog pond\, discuss industrial history at Glen Fern\, visit the unique habitat for snakes and other wildlife\, and cross the stunning Fingerspan bridge. Along the way\, hikers will learn about the park’s crucial role as a watershed\, and how the size\, shape\, and vegetation of the surrounding land directly impacts the amount of water flowing into the creek. We will discuss challenges such as land erosion damage\, pollutants\, and the complicated relationship with the Chestnut Hill sewer intercept. Most importantly\, hikers will learn what they can do to help preserve the watershed. A note that this trail is challenging. There are rocks (esp. around climbers rock)\, hills\, and gaps to navigate around. Although dogs are welcome\, they should be prepared for these challenges\, and hikers should be informed that most dogs are afraid of the Fingerspan. Distance:~2 miles. Level: Difficult (many inclines and declines\, uneven surfaces). Recommended for ages 12+ \nRegistration is required for all hikes so that participants can be informed of weather or other emergency cancellations. We ask all event attendees to bring a mask and mask up if a distance of six feet cannot be maintained during the activity. If you or anyone in your household are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms\, please stay home. More information is at fow.org/covid-19. \nUnless otherwise specified\, Trail Ambassador Walks may be on rocky\, rugged trails that may be wet and slippery. Wear sturdy shoes or boots with socks. Walks are cancelled in heavy rain. Service animals are always welcome. For more information contact Claire Brennan at brennan@fow.org. Visit www.fow.org for updates.

He gave up his Greenwich Village “pad” in the early 1970’s and lived in his “Tour Bus” for the next 15 years crisscrossing the US and appearing at festivals throughout Canada & Europe. \n \nBook Binder\, travelled with the legendary Rev. Gary Davis in the late 60’s….. The Book\, recorded his first solo acoustic Blues album in the 70’s\, which was the first to receive 5 stars in DOWNBEAT magazine! In the late 80’s ‘The Book’ was part of Bonnie Raitt’s East Coast Tour\, which included an appearance on The Grand Old Opry which led to almost 30 appearances on NASHVILLE NOW’s\, Ralph Emory Show! In the 90’s he often appeared with JORMA KAUKONEN (who recorded 2 of Roy’s songs) \n \nTHE GOOD BOOK\, Roy’s latest release of all original songs\, reached #3 on AirPlayDirect’s Americana charts! #1 was Guy Clark & #2 was the late Townes Van Zandt. Folkdj.org had Roy in the top 3 artists for July. \n \nRoy has the goods: the original\, the bare-knuckle\, the low-down . . . blues. Who can say they were friends with the Rev. Gary Davis\, Pink Anderson and Robert Lockwood? And toured with Arthur Big Boy Crudup\, Hot Tuna\, JJ Cale & Bonnie Raitt ? Roy can. He has the stories\, the licks\, and the mystery of timeless music in his fingers. He’s been featured on a PBS special and interviewed by Terry Gross on “Fresh Air.” He’s also a regular at Fur Peace Ranch\, where he teaches along with Jorma Kaukonen. When he brings his ‘Tour Bus’ to town\, a one-man blues-fest ensues. He plays and he entertains\, feeding us music and stories\, and the evening is a celebration for us all. We’re privileged to have Roy here to preserve–and extend—the tradition of great American blues music. (JAMES HIPP)‍https://www.roybookbinder.com.

SUMMARY:Rebearth Dance Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Get ready to move your body and connect with the earth in our Rebearth Dance Workshop with Sanchel Brown!\n\n\nWest African dance classes from a spiritual perspective with instructor Sanchel Brown. \n\n\n\nMore about Black Lotus HHC \n \nBlack Lotus Holistic Healing Collective is known for is a space designed for BIPOC healers/practitioners to be centered in the healing in order for them to heal those in the BIPOC community. Vibrational healing is the ancient art of healing with sound; it traces back to ancient Egypt & Tibet. Sound vibrations can heal the physical body at a cellular level by adjusting blockages and imbalances. These imbalances can cause the body to have a slower frequency vibration which may lead to dis-ease or illnesses. Natural healing sound frequencies can be transferred or introduced externally or directly into the body to create a more harmonious state. \nAt Black Lotus\, we combine the use of crystal chakra singing bowls\, gongs\, tuning forks\, and more to give a relaxing & transformative experience. We can balance chakras\, repair auras\, uplift the mood or help with grounding. Vibrational healing is a great tool for meditation\, alleviating stress\, and relaxing stiff or sore muscles. \nFor more visit: www.diasporaeducationalservices.org/black-lotus \nhttps://linktr.ee/blacklotushhc \n\n\n\nDIRECTIONS: \nBlack Lotus is not on Lincoln Drive despite the address…it is actually on Rittenhousetown Lane. From Lincoln drive\, you must carefully make your way to Wissahickon Ave.Heading North on Lincoln Drive from Route 1: \n\nTurn right onto Rittenhouse St\nTurn left at the Sunco at the next light\nGo thought the light on Lincoln Drive slowly\nTurn left into the woody path\, Rittenhousetown Lane\nYour destination is the first big white house on the right with the big porch.\n\nHeading South on Lincoln Drive from Mt Airy: \n\nTurn right on W Cliveden St\nTurn left on Wissahickon Ave\nTurn right onto the woody driveway\, Rittenhousetown Lane\nYour destination is the first big white house on the right with the big porch.\n\nLimited parking available next to Black Lotus.
