SUMMARY:Uncle Bobbie's X Alyssa Cole & Kellye Garrett
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we welcome authors Alyssa Cole and Kellye Garrett for a great discussion.\n\n\nWe are very excited to welcome award-winning authors\, Alyssa Cole and Kellye Garrett for a fantastic discussion and to celebrate the launch of Alyssa’s latest book\, One of Us Knows and Kellye’s latest release\, Missing White Woman. \nA Q&A session and special book signing will follow the conversation. \nDon’t miss out! \n****** \nDoors open at 6:00pm. \nBuy your book now and save on the General Admission fee! A ll tickets are non-refundable. \nStreet parking available. Wheelchair accessible entrance also available through the rear parking lot. \n****** \nAbout the Books: \nOne of Us Knows by Alyssa Cole \nYears after a breakdown and a diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder derailed her historical preservationist career\, Kenetria Nash and her alters have been given a second chance they can’t refuse: a position as resident caretaker of a historic home. Having been dormant for years\, Ken has no idea what led them to this isolated Hudson River island\, but she’s determined not to ruin their opportunity. \nThen a surprise visit from the home’s conservation trust just as a Nor’easter bears down on the island disrupts her newfound life\, leaving Ken trapped with a group of possibly dangerous strangers—including the man who brought her life tumbling down years earlier. When he turns up dead\, Ken is the prime suspect. \nCaught in a web of secrets and in a race against time\, Ken and her alters must band together to prove their innocence and discover the truth of Kavanaugh Island—and their own past—or they risk losing not only their future\, but their life. \n \nMissing White Woman by Kellye Garrett \nThe truth is never skin deep. \nIt was supposed to be a romantic getaway weekend in New York City. Breanna’s new boyfriend\, Ty\, took care of everything—the train tickets\, the dinner reservations\, the rented four-story luxury rowhouse in Jersey City with a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline. But when Bree comes downstairs their final morning\, she’s shocked. There’s a stranger laying dead in the foyer\, and Ty is nowhere to be found. \nA Black woman alone in a new city\, Bree is stranded and out of her depth—especially when it becomes clear the dead woman is none other than Janelle Beckett\, the missing woman the entire Internet has become obsessed with. There’s only one person Bree can turn to: her ex-best friend\, a lawyer with whom she shares a very complicated past. As the police and a social media mob close in\, all looking for #JusticeForJanelle\, Bree realizes that the only way she can help Ty—or herself—is to figure out what really happened that last night. \nBut when people only see what they want to see\, can she uncover the truth hiding in plain sight? \n \nAbout the Authors: \nAlyssa Cole is an award-winning\, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of thrillers and romance (historical\, contemporary\, and sci-fi). Her books have received critical acclaim from Library Journal\, BuzzFeed\, Kirkus\, Booklist\, Jezebel\, Vulture\, Book Riot\, Entertainment Weekly\, and various other outlets. When she’s not working\, she can usually be found watching anime or wrangling her many pets. \nKellye Garrett is the author of Like a Sister—an Edgar nominee for Best Novel\, Anthony Award winner for Best Hardcover Mystery\, and Lefty Award winner for Best Mystery—as well as Hollywood Homicide\, which won Agatha\, Anthony\, Lefty\, and Independent Publisher “IPPY” awards for Best First Novel and was named one of Time’s 100 Best Mystery and Thriller Books of All Time and BookBub’s Top 100 Crime Novels of All Time\, and Hollywood Ending\, which was nominated for both Anthony and Lefty awards. Prior to writing novels\, Garrett spent eight years working in Hollywood\, including a stint writing for Cold Case. She is a New Jersey native\, a cofounder of Crime Writers of Color\, and a former board member of Sisters in Crime.

We are sending monthly invites to become a Reuse Volunteer to those who have volunteered 10 or more times! Reuse Volunteers help process materials in our Reuse bins after they leave the initial sorting table. It’s a great opportunity to understand the deconstruction of sample garments\, what types of items are donatable or mendable\, and how materials are processed for reuse or recyclability. We monitor our Eventbrite registrations closely. If you think you may have completed 10 sorting sessions and did not receive an invitation to sign up\, let us know at volunteer@fabscrap.org using the email you register for sessions with. \nPlease read below for additional information on volunteering\, including other changes at the FABSCRAP Philly warehouse due to COVID-19. \n— \nWhat to expect: \n\nWelcome: Intros and overview of FABSCRAP (10 minutes)\nTraining: Learn how FABSCRAP sorts fabric for recycling (15 minutes)\nSort: Sort through fabric samples and large pieces\, pulling out usable fabrics for reuse and removing hardware and paper from fabric swatches for recycling (~2.5 hours)\nShop for fabric! These are meant for folks that want to join but can’t afford tickets\, once registered\, we will see if community folk can fund your ticket! 🙂 \nAbout Chief: \nMoonHead is an Indigenous Philadelphia based visual / performance artist who draws the majority of his inspiration from nature as well as the need to speak to the subconscious mind in re-routing to self. \nMost of Chiefs work has been geared towards the restorative work. Restoring parts of history while also being able to tell a story over his canvas. His art is created with the purpose to serve as a reflection to the viewer. \nAbout d’griot community gallery: @dgriot.philly \nNamed in honor of African storytellers and urban slang\, we are a community gallery. A space of story. Stories of our ancestors\, the magic in the present\, and our intent for the future. We exist to uplift the black\, brown\, and local community through being a platform for folk artists & local businesses\, hosting inspiring events\, offering space rentals and catering of nutrient dense food\, and soon a Fly High Tea. \nWe are intentional about creating authentic beautiful spaces to share stories\, activate our creativity\, educate one another\, map toward our goals\, support one another to see the beauty in ourselves and fly.
