SUMMARY:Harriett’s presents Authors @ Amina’s w/ Dr. Ashley Farmer
DESCRIPTION:Authors @ Amina’s invites us to connect and learn about Queen Mother: Black Nationalism\, Reparations\, and the Untold Story of Audley Moore\n\n\nWelcome to Harriett’s presents Authors @ Amina’s: Dr. Ashley Farmer! Join us for an evening with the esteemed author\, Dr Ashley Farmer\, at AMINA. \n \nSupport three Black woman-owned businesses in one evening–Harrietts\, Aminas\, and Dr. Farmer. \n \nGet ready to be inspired by her insightful storytelling. This in-person event is a great opportunity to meet the author\, engage other readers\, ask questions\, and connect with fellow history lovers over a soul food meal at Amina. Don’t miss out on this unique chance to dive into history with Dr Ashley Farmer. \n \nTicket covers your book purchase. \n \nDescription \nFrom an award-winning historian of Black radical politics comes the definitive biography of Audley Moore—mother of modern Black Nationalism and trailblazer in the fight for reparations. \n“Queen Mother is a monumental achievement\, a rendering worthy of the great Audley Moore herself.”—Jelani Cobb\, Dean of the Columbia School of Journalism \nIn the world of Black radical politics\, the name Audley Moore commands unquestioned respect. Across the nine decades of her life\, Queen Mother Moore distinguished herself as a leading progenitor of Black Nationalism\, the founder of the modern reparations movement\, and\, from her Philadelphia and Harlem homes\, a mentor to some of America’s most influential Black activists. \nAnd yet\, she is far less remembered than many of her peers and protégés—Marcus Garvey\, Malcolm X\, and Muhammad Ahmad\, to name just a few—and the ephemera of her life are either lost or plundered. In Queen Mother\, celebrated writer and historian Ashley D. Farmer restores Moore’s faded portrait\, delivering the first ever definitive account of her life and enduring legacy. \nDeeply researched and richly detailed\, Queen Mother is more than just the biography of an American icon. It’s a narrative history of 20th-century Black radicalism\, told through the lens of the woman whose grit and determination sustained the movement. \n \nDinner not included in ticket price. Amina menu.

SUMMARY:The Source of Self Regard - November Reception
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Reception for ‘The Source of Self Regard’ at InLiquid Gallery\n\n\nJoin us on 2nd Thursday at Crane Arts and get an inside look at The Source of Self Regard\, curated by Tayyib Smith. \n \nAbout the exhibition: \nBeginning with the radical act of seeing oneself—and one’s community—with reverence\, The Source of Self Regard asserts that self-regard is neither a luxury nor ego. It is a necessity. Curated by cultural worker and entrepreneur Tayyib Smith\, the exhibition brings together six Black artists with roots in Philadelphia to examine the Black self in a powerful celebration and affirmation of belonging. Learn more here. \n \nThe InLiquid Gallery is located within the Crane Arts Building\, which is wheelchair accessible. There is limited accessible parking at the front of the building and a ramp leading to the main entrance. The main building door is not automated. Two all-gender bathrooms with multiple stalls are available for use — one with urinals\, one without\, and both with 1–2 wheelchair-accessible stall(s).

SUMMARY:Opening Reception of “Stories My Father Told Me” by Helen Zughaib
DESCRIPTION:Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture Gallery is pleased to present Stories My Father Told Me\, a solo exhibition by renowned artist Helen Zughaib. The exhibition opens Thursday\, November 13th\, from 6–9 PM at Al-Bustan’s gallery\, located at 310 W Master St\, Philadelphia PA. \nThrough 25 paintings\, Zughaib brings a vivid world alive—a world derived from the stories that her father would relay to her and her siblings while growing up in Lebanon. Though rooted in her specific familial experience\, the exhibition speaks to something universal: the enduring power of storytelling to bridge generations and preserve identity. Each painting invites viewers to recall their own storytellers\, to hear echoes of familiar voices\, and to find themselves within a shared fabric of belonging.
